Change from usual posting but the punk band I’m in with @iamtheowwl.bsky.social just put a video out from our upcoming record. Do share on if you’re into this kind of thing. Watch ‘An Infinite Sphere’ - youtu.be/EYKgwt_V6h4 Band Instagram: www.instagram.com/mothernature... #hardcorepunk #punk

This is great. Charlie Harper from UK Subs or Nigel Tufnel from Spinal Tap? Close your eyes and it’s impossible to tell them apart!

Now reading - The Viaduct (1983) by David Wheldon It’s a short novel so I won’t post thoughts until I’m done, but it’s an irresistible premise: “A man, recently released from prison, is setting out on a journey, walking over the disused railway viaduct that spans his native city.” #booksky 📚

I used to love drawing but have never done it consistently But this eve I had an urge to sketch something inspired by one of my favourite novels, Patrick Hamilton’s Hangover Square, so I did and here it is Pen on paper sketch, just inverted colours #booksky #illustration

In all my years of reading I’ve never come across a cigarette ad printed IN THE BOOK. Was this common practice!? #booksky

From my correspondence files: Nigel Kneale.

Nice can of Mackeson stout - a classic ‘ghost brand’ (produced and sold but without advertising/promotion) Widely marketed to women as a less bitter alternative to Guinness, apparently the rise of lager led to its decline in the 70s? But there’s still clearly enough loyal fans to maintain sales

Since going Vienna last year I’ve had a hankering for schnitzel with sauerkraut and erdäpfelsalat (Austrian style potato salad). All homemade and absolutely banging 🤷‍♂️

This was a nice surprise - a 90s legal drama that felt like something Lumet might have made. More complex than surface appearance, Ebert’s assessment (“like John Grisham for grownups”) is pretty accurate. Also bleaker when watched in the contemporary climate… #filmsky
