This is the most wretched campaign of deliberate, explicit persecution the United States has perpetrated against a minority group in decades. Many of the most important people in politics and journalism are busying themselves trying to figure out how little to say or do about it.

Just look at these paragraphs from the AP story. Hegseth called Brown unqualified solely because he's Black. Then they fired him... and replaced him with a white guy so indisputably unqualified that he requires a Presidential waiver. This is what "merit" means to them. apnews.com/article/trum...

It is Black History Month and each day this month I am sharing stories from Canada's Black history. Today it is the story of William Peyton Hubbard. A popular Toronto politician, who was one of the first Black Canadians elected to public office. 🧵1/10

JD Vance is so nauseatingly unlikeable that he’s literally dragging down the AfD’s approval rating

(pointing to punisher logo on policeman's shirt while being arrested stealing baby shoes from Ross) thats fucking awesome . I love dead pool

This is making something click for me about why some of the hatred for mature bargaining relationship unionism and concomitant romanticization of direct action and labor struggle bothers me so much.

"And if I was still prime minister, I would be prepared to impoverish the country and not be annexed, if that was the option we’re facing” Haven't said this for awhile, but I 100% agree with former PM Stephen Harper.

While many Canadians are watching the Super Bowl, Trump just slapped 25% tariffs on US imports of steel and aluminum. Canada is America’s top supplier of both…

This indicates two things: 1) Trump and his circle are willing to believe, and repeat and act upon, completely fictional stories about S Africa that circulate on the internet and could be disproven in a second by the State Dept; 2) explicitly white-supremacist policies are now out in the open

I just left #Syria after an extraordinary trip — one that until recently I never thought I’d make again. From #Aleppo, to #Idlib, #Latakia, #Tartus, #Salamiya, #Suwayda & #Damascus. So many takeaways, but most of all: it's free & everyone is overjoyed. A 🧵:

Trump: I think we should invade Easter Island. MAGA: Easter Islanders are demanding liberation! NY Times: Easter Island, more important than you think. Pentagon: Put together some invasion plans for Easter Island. Trump: Actually I meant Malta.

Like if Canada was a friend and the US was their partner you would encourage Canada to leave the toxic relationship He's not going to change

Here's the speech if you haven't heard it. 13 minutes of your time. Share it with your American friends and neighbours, because they won't see it otherwise. Circulate it in Mexico and Denmark, France and the UK, Panama and Germany, Poland and Estonia, and especially -- especially -- Ukraine.

I'm not reporting on this at all, so this is just a lazy take. But I cannot come up with a scenario where this isn't a total disaster for Trump. Even if he can convince business to internalize some costs, even if he can offset with tax cuts: He's still just thrown a grenade into the U.S. economy.

Editorial: If we just spend billions of dollars to solve our non-existent border security problem, Trump definitely might not tariff us maybe (Patreon exclusive)
