Will there be a livestream / recording made available anywhere afterward ? I will not attend SIGGRAPH, but the topic is interesting and I'd be keen to hear your analysis. Might there be a paper that goes along with the talk ?

That's the first time I see a red "Intel Inside" logo ! Feels weirdly out of place.

Can't say I have the same experience (RTX 2080 Super). Sometimes the driver will hang for no reason, and explicit sync does *not* like most Wayland applications toggling fullscreen. But then again I feel like my setup is cursed, it sometimes gets wonky (but not unstable) on Windows as well 😅

On my old(-ish) camera (Fujifilm XM1) there was an additional dial on top of the body which I could map to most functions in manual mode. Does your camera not have a similar programmable dial ? I used it all the time for quickly adjusting my shutter speed :)

Huh. So that mental fallacy is employed by the [far-]right everywhere, not just in France. Good to know other countries seem to manipulate public opinion to conflate antisemitism and basic empathy for human rights. It's absolutely disgusting.

That's the kinda comparisons we like to see! Are the details in the geometry of the walls purely based on higher texture fidelity on PC, or is it DLSS resolving more details? Are the details here even texture-based (normal, bump maps) or is this higher quality base geometry?

Are you
connecting this PC via WiFi when your router is on the table next to it (w/ the antenna on top of the case) ? It's like you *want* to induce network stutters on your system !

Ever tried double-shot keycaps? Instead of a printed/etched legend on the keycap, it's actually an "inner keycap" sticking through the outer keycap. Here's a random photo I found which illustrates it. This *should* not wear down, unless you make a hole in your keycaps in which case
 good luck!

github.com/fmtlib/fmt The API is really intuitive: all the power of the printf syntax with nearly everything checked at compile time. You can even add formatters for your own structures to print them directly! It was standardized in C++20 under "std::format".

Honestly, if you work a bit with strings (and their grandpa the char-pointer), take a look at the fmt library from Victor Zverovich. It makes easy work of string manipulations with easy conversions to either string or the char pointer depending on what needs it.

Seems like it was not a last minute adjustment, but a last minute *decision*. Gamers Nexus (@gamersnexus.bsky.social ?) published a video yesterday where the prices were apparently still up in the air

Interesting that they chose a spatial-only clustering algorithm for building the CLASes instead of typical mesh-based LODs. Might have scenarii where two mesh parts are in the same CLAS, but in vastly different parts of the mesh. Interested to see deep dives on perf. implications of the choice.

If it's leaking within the driver, than how can you be sure it's your fault ? If the OpenGL spec says function A should alloc/free and that behavior is not respected if called after function B in the NVIDIA/AMD drivers, it's not your fault :)

Feels like a file saved somewhere where Windows overwrites permissions at some point ? Running as admin updates the files' permissions to be readable/writable by common users and then SH2 does not crash anymore. Just a wild guess.

As the old internet adage goes: "Just because I like pancakes does not mean I hate waffles". There can be room for both, for the people who want it. (banger video on genAI btw)

A small request, which you might've already addressed in the video: did you test 20-series cards? Since the game requires HWRT but the 20-series implementation was always weak, I'm interested to see how they perform. Currently rocking a 2080 Super and I'm afraid I won't be able to run the game...
