My Thief 2 FM, Eye of the Sea, is out. ~ Lord Gideon once pillaged the island of Perditas in search of a sacred gemstone, the Eye of the Sea. Failing to find it, he instead built his vacation home there. Years later, you're after it, but you're not the only one... ~ www.ttlg.com/forums/showt...

Now playing Misguided Souls, another Thief 2 fan mission by Nicked.

Nest of Vipers is a masterclass FM from Nicked, a massive and intricate mission set in a foreboding wizard's academy. Truly impressive (and oppressive) atmosphere. Get it here: www.thiefguild.com/fanmissions/...

New T2 FM: Eye of the Sea by 1600frogs "I request that anyone who plays it reply to the thread with their total par score in the mini golf course." (on TTLG) TG: www.thiefguild.com/fanmissions/... TTLG: www.ttlg.com/forums/showt...

I helped design the cover and the interior art for this progressive metal album by Chronicler, a musical tribute to the Thief video games. Also I got the CD signed by the composer, you can still get your copy on Bandcamp: compendium-pt.bandcamp.com/album/premon...

anyway, while i had off time in florida, ive been doing my best to try and keep up on my vods, which means my playlist for every Thief FM in chronological order has been updated again. check it out: www.youtube.com/playlist?lis...

I played the short Thief 2 fan mission "A Shadow in the Water", by nicked. I like this kind of mission which are ostensibly a simple robbery, yet it's hinted right from the start that there's something more going on, some mystery or supernatural complication to resolve.

David Lynch’s The Elephant Man and Eraserhead were primary reference points for @dthron.bsky.social 's style for Thief.

For #portfolioday... I'm still working on it! In the meantime, please enjoy this big ol' feature I wrote for Retro Gamer Magazine. It's about Looking Glass Studios, the Thief series, and the future of immersive sims - all of which I love dearly: bit.ly/thieflegacy

Be like Garrett: >rent is 850 >spends 1265 on water arrows, invisibility potions, flash bombs, gas mines, flares... so he can steal the rent money more easily

Music by Eric Brosius (with Ramin Djawadi and Greg LoPiccolo). This was 1998.

The Dark Mod - Stealth Gaming in a Gothic Steampunk World The Dark Mod is a free first-person stealth game inspired by the Thief series by Looking Glass. It has almost 200 fan-made missions to download and comes with its own level editor. www.youtube.com/watch?v=brJq...

A new Christmas FM from Tannar! www.ttlg.com/forums/showt...

A lifetime ago I had the pleasure of interviewing @dthron.bsky.social, taffer extraordinaire, and the artist behind Thief's wonderful cutscenes. We delved into his inspirations, creative process, and all things Thief-related. substack.com/home/post/p-...

Looking for more playtesters for my upcoming Thief 2 mission, Eye of the Sea. If anyone's interested, I ask for a humble 90 minutes of your time and a video of your playthrough. Minigolf included. DM me if interested!

I've posted my full interview with Thief's artist and cutscene director @dthron.bsky.social on substack. I referenced this interview a lot in my deep dive on Thief's aesthetics and once again, I'd like to thank Daniel for taking the time to answer my questions. open.substack.com/pub/pc2000s/...

And after that, Deadly Shadows! 🏹

Blackjacking a guard and leaving the body on a slope, body slides down into a patrol path and alerts everyone in the map. It was only on the return journey I realised why everyone went crazy.

What a great game. Even as a latecomer to this party (the game is as old as me lol) it showed me how much art direction, level design, voice acting, narrative focus, etc. can make a game almost timeless, even with very dated graphics.

So many amazing in-game moments. However, my most memorable experience playing it was hiding in a corner, intensely observing guards, when my sister crashed the family car through my bedroom wall.

Being entirely traumatized by the sound design in Return to the Cathedral, of course

Winds of Misfortune is now version 1.1. It contains a few bugfixes but most importantly a massive performance gain thanks to @vfig.bsky.social and Jayrude. I highly recommend you download this version and replace 1.0 if you downloaded it. bsky.app/profile/skac...

I've been looking for ways to encapsulate the aesthetics of these games beyond sharing little clips, and I've been attempting to do that by writing about them. Here's my write-up about 1998's Thief (no paywall or email subscription needed)

Thief was the game of my childhood. I used to sit by my brother's side and watch him play for hours. We were and are still fascinated by the atmosphere. At the time we watched religiously all the cutscenes, I still know them by heart. But brr the zombies did terrify me! @saaamoth.bsky.social

Thief changed the way I thought about games by emphasizing avoiding combat

I played the demo of Thief (Lord Bafford's Manor) and I had never experienced anything like it. I've spent my entire career trying to capture that magic.

definitely one of the all-time great games in general. amazing how much a game from 1998 can run laps around so many contemporary AAA games in so many ways. check out my big piece i wrote for the 20th anniversary back in 2018 medium.com/mammon-machi...

Today marks 26 years since Thief: The Dark Project first hit the shelves and defined the stealth genre. Share this and tell us what was your first or the most memorable experience playing Thief. #Thief #ThiefTheDarkProject #LookingGlassStudios
