Oh they're 100% going to get Obama to take a break from making boring documentaries to come in and say he has "troubling and radical views"

It ruins the experience so much! People on their phones up until the production credits start and also then start wandering in for the first 5 minutes of the movie with their flashlights on!

That actually *did* happen, but it was months after the meltdown

What does "State Rights" mean in this context? Is it an archaic way of saying territory rights/distribution rights?

I liked how if you looked at Twitter at any time during the last week of the Canadian election, you could have followed the entire sordid saga about Howie Mandel being arrested and the efforts to being undertaken by The Fans to "demand justice" (all of these linked to right wing slop sites)

I had no idea that there was a single volume edition of Mostress (until now!)

Just tell him he can keep his membership at the Congressional gym if he steps down - that way he can still hang out with all his buddies and get the occasional stock tip

Wouldn't this just mean that FDR is actually in a deep coma and is just recovering his strength until he rises again?

Personally, I think it's a good idea to emulate a group of people who were so hated in antiquity that they show up in several Christian parables as "Look, even this guy - this horrible, horrible little guy - can get into Heaven!"

The shirtless Top Gun guy (Miles Teller) is in town because he's doing promotional can signings for his new Finnish canned cocktail
(which is a sentence that was only uttered for the first time in the history of the world in 2025)

Every time you see him pontificating about Harsh Historical Truths™, without fail, you can just type the topic he's going on about into Google + "Reddit" and you can, without fail, find out the Reddit post that "inspired" him

Most of these Good Old Days/RETVRN types (depending on your age range) also have a skewed view of the past that's wholly based on media products like sitcoms and ads
It's a golden age that never existed outside of a poorly scanned magazine liquor ad that's been posted to Reddit!

He seems to be trying to make "CATastrophe" his thing, which is clearly a reference to Garfield Eats (but also ambiguous enough to avoid getting a sternly worded letter from Paramount)

Apparently the entire New York Times' Campus Politics reporting team (which is surprisingly large!) would all fall for the Wallet Inspector's cunning trickery

Probably because their comms staff all Google "Great American Speeches" and end up awkwardly trying to emulate late 19th/early 20th century oratory and writing styles. Absurd sense of pomposity and gravitas for something that's meant for people to skim on their phones.

I wouldn't underestimate the chances of a reactionary Californian politician who panders to the worst impulses of bigoted suburbanites becoming president (cf. Nixon, Reagan)

If you even look at a posting, you'll get a flurry of emails saying "looking for a new job?" everyday, which makes me incredibly paranoid ("do you guys know something about my employer that I don't?")

Democrats are clearly following the pre-election KierStarmer/UK Labour strategy of "do nothing and we will win in the next election because everyone will be mad"
(only partially joking, as Deborah Mattinson was advising the Harris campaign and is still hanging around Washington)

They did something like this as an April Fool's joke in Vancouver and it actually seemed to be more effective than any Vision Zero program that Toronto ran over the last decade
