An entire generation of people raised on memes and Fox News who are just completely unable to separate propaganda from reality. If there is a crisis, it’s epistemological. Fascists will try to bend reality to their ideology, but this always fails in the long run with tons of damage along the way.

began the electors and documents investigations in February 2021 instead of March 2022.

And why did Smith run out of time? Because the court sat on the case, and because the DOJ's delay gave the court an opening to fuck with the process. Even if I'm totally off base on the politics, and the court behaved the same exact way, Trump would still be sitting in a federal prison if Garland

Second, while the court did make trump a quasi-king, the case still wasn't dismissed. If Smith had more time, or if Harris had won, the cases would've still proceeded with fewer charges.

first day, and Trump was indicted in September 2021 (roughly the time it took for Jack Smith to go from blank page to grand jury), Trump would've been in prison before the midterms, maybe even before post-Covid inflation started. The political context would've made it harder to fuck with.

Two things. First, I think this ignores how much politics and public sentiment play a role in all of this. DOJ waited over a year to *start* investigating Trump, almost two years to devote a full special prosecutor to it, and Trump wasn't indicted until August 2023. If the DOJ had started on Biden's

Note - Both the LAPD and LASD agree with the former and characterized this as peaceful protests against a sloppy LEO operation.
Fellow white liberals - ICE isn’t coming into our neighborhoods - I’m going to trust the people of Paramount, CA over some prestige journalist’s take.

You can be negatively polarized against anti-D posters without giving Biden a pass for violating his oath to defend the Constitution, and effectively letting Trump & Co. walk free to try again in 2024. No amount of speeches that no one watches and Op-Eds no one reads could paper over that mistake.

so we're pretending that the Biden DOJ didn't slow-roll the investigations into Trump & Co. for January 6? That Biden ran in 2020 on a return to normalcy, and the administration pretended that the Trumpist threat to democracy was over? That Merrick Garland was a figment of our imaginations?

Governor Walz has great political instincts, and we should return to being blunt and honest about Trump and his underlings.

Right now really isn't the moment to be cute. There's no violence going on in Los Angeles, save for the National Guard tear-gassing peaceful protestors, and the Senator is playing Trump's game by suggesting otherwise. Peaceful protests being violently suppressed isn't the fault of the protestors,
