Another excellent piece by the Journal on trans healthcare in Ireland. The "National Gender Service" sends threatening letters to GPs to stop trans people easily accessing blood tests which are a routine safety measure when taking hormones. I know it's hard to believe but it's true! #speirgorm

This is absolutely calling it what it is . www.thejournal.ie/readme/dubli...

Wrote about this many years ago on Twitter, but your actual goal should be 5 trains/buses an hour - so a 12 minute interval. This breaks a couple of important psychological barriers for people, based on research by TfL (London's transport operator). Will explain. 🧵 /1

This is not healthcare, this is abuse. www.thejournal.ie/investigates...

I’m on a list of cures for centrist dads 😂

Just a fun reminder that birthright citizenship was revoked in Ireland in 2005 with 80% of people voting to remove it. It’s easy to get on our high horse and believe we’re morally superior but meh

Honestly, in one way it probably is "good" that SF's warped thinking on Trans rights is exposed. But seriously, they would really be better served if they had just shut up and not said a word, because Jesus Christ they are machine-gunning their feet off at this point.

We are dismayed and angered by Fermanagh and Omagh District Council's statement on the Supreme Court ruling. Full statement in alt text.

Fermanagh and Omagh council are going to fully implement the UK Supreme Court decision on trans people's access to single sex spaces. 1. F&O council is Sinn Fein controlled. 2. The Supreme Court decision doesn't apply in Northern Ireland. 3. What the actual fuck?

I don’t like the language here because trans men are not “biologically female” (they’re not, that’s just a fact, take it up with a biologist if you must) but the point she’s making stands and it’s amazing to see the realisation dawning on yer man

Galway deserves a chance to breathe, but emotive arguments cannot brush away the fact a second ring road will suffocate the city in traffic irishcycle.com/2025/04/24/g...

I have come to realise that the greatest barrier to the honest acknowledgement of the scale and deliberate nature of the global cover of clerical sexual abuse is not the struggle to uncover the truth, but rather our collective inability to believe it. www.irishexaminer.com/opinion/comm...

I get that people who say this are coming from a good place but "if you're Irish you're not entitled to be anti-immigration" implies if you were from somewhere else you might be justified? It'd be cool if people could be persuaded to do the right thing without an Irish Exceptionalism belly-rub.

Suspect we're all exhausted by bad news but Israel continuing to smash Gaza and its people demands attention.

The fact we continue to demand that Primary Teachers are expected to do Catholic formation teaching as a default is one of the most rediculous things about this country. Cue all the if this was ever implemented though.

Genuinely, Kneecap all the way on this one. They have aggrevated the right people. The main problem is a Western media that finds their act more outrageous to their sense of morality than the brutality inflicted on Palestinians.

If you won't argue for the unconditional human rights of the worst person imaginable, then you don't actually believe in the concept.

Honestly - best Pope in my lifetime. Not a high bar, but loved how he spent his last days dunking on JD Vance. It is really going to suck if the Cardinals elect a reactionary to replace him. m.independent.ie/world-news/p...

Honestly, this is essentially just the same anti-Asylum Seeker racism we've seen elsewhere, dressed up in white collar, upper-middle-class clothing.

They even tried the "responsibility" framing; still a thumping majority for neutrality. Poll after poll has shown that most Irish people do not want to compromise neutrality, and it's mad that politicians & lobbyists are still pushing this. Via IPSOS/B&A for the Irish Times
