But can’t they rebuild the civil service? They can’t, at least in the short term. Who will take a civil service job now, knowing what might happen in the next administration? Only patronage will survive, and patronage means incompetence. 6/

Yeah I feel awful for him.
For me, come and take it. Here til you fire me and fire me all legal-like or see you in court. I’m old enough that a RIF gives me a lot of runway.

I send a weekly report to my boss anyhow, he can just foia those and get a redacted version. Otherwise it’s “worked on my cases, looked out for my direct reports.” Friend of mine was so worked up over this they thought he was having a stroke, spent a day in the er while specialists came and went.

Yes. You don’t have to go on and on but “we appreciated getting to know you and your resume is really strong, we hope you will consider applying for positions with us in the future if the opportunity arises” kind of thing.

My old boss was a streetcar driver in his youth and surely remembers the route if you get stuck!

They say you can’t count on it. With the end of data and analysis for decision making I figure I can use the RIF check to retrain as an electrician or a bike mechanic. Do something I know folks need.

Only fancy eggs at the Lidl tonight. Regular eggs an empty shelf with one 18 pack with three broken. We should get on top of this bird flu thing?

Suffering from all of these now (don’t get norovirus!) and thus biking to work tomorrow even though it is stupidly cold. Fingers crossed it will help.

Can’t condone this kind of violence.

I do think there will be a flood of good folks in state and local gov jobs in this area and hope it builds momentum behind a lot of good things. Requires some flexibility as the specific experience matches are not always there.

Five probationary attorneys in my office too. Fingers crossed they are not next.

Yeah. Sometimes my role needs to be there, and I do not mind it. But a lot of this stuff is solo desk work.

It was harder for new people but for the workhorses, yeah, so much got done. If I have to catch a train pencil is most likely down unless it’s a deadline, if I am at home I finish what I’m working on.

I think coopers. We have loads of them in this area and they hang out in cities pretty cheerfully.

In Baltimore, turned off the electric part of a hybrid shortly after install and have not needed to turn it back on, though in the coldest weather showers were noticeably warm rather than hot for a couple days. Love it.

The good old days. What was that nice woman’s name who ran it? A delight!

Right there with you friend. I serve the public, I do good work in their service, and I’m going to keep it up.

That is a lot and annoying! See the aventons in a lot of rental fleets so I would have expected them to be solid. Not going to be passing around thirty and forty year old ones of these like meatbikes I fear.

Happy with my blix but only a couple thousand miles on it. Which ones have failed you?
