#Booksky 1/? Going to say a few things about small press publishing economics in the U.S. in general. 1. $$ for book purchases (other than our own website) can arrive anywhere from monthly to bimonthly to quarterly to annually to never. 2. PayPal and Square have upped their fees.

So today an opinion has come out of the woodworks that somehow marginalized voices shouldn't tell stories if their only avenue is small presses. Personally, I have experienced marginalization in many ways, including transgender, ethnic, etc. Without small presses, my stories would not exist.

With this conservative meritocracy logic, we'd have had to bail on people who really needed it. Including Ukrainians and people now deceased. Without taking risks and finding ways to survive them, we wouldn't have half of our books. Go after the bad guys for a while.

I said we've had to borrow to pay royalties. I also said we always will pay the authors. I understand people are used to US pubs being the adversaries, but a lot of small presses do not operate that way. We borrow. We risk. We help each other. And we need your support not your shaming.
