Christian guy. Old enough to remember Starsky & Hutch. Keen to learn from people and what they know & share. Worldwide perspective. In the end, it's Jesus that matters.

Sea level rise I guess...I think Florida will be the first state to be widely underwater as rapid sea level rise takes hold.

Lol not really. A boat is something I row or sail with 2 or 3 others, a big boat might be 50 plus feet long with say 5 or 10 others. A 100,000 tonne container ship is something else!

These are huge things, much better to call them ships not boats.

Best of luck Mike, looks like the weather should be ok? God speed.

"That's a risk I'll have to take"...in Carry on up the Khyber when it looks like a military raid may, as a consequence, free his captured wife. Gets me every time. Not that I ever watch Carry On movies of course.

The stickiest situation since sticky the stick insect got stuck on a stick bun.

I add another dimension to the debate by saying, don't use jam - use marmalade instead! Whether it goes on before or after the cream doesn't matter, it's much nicer...

Thank you, it's an interesting read.

Not a real Shakespeare quote, obviously.

Hark, a sprite upon the rolling main, A waspish hull, though scant in timber frame. Yet in her heart a lion doth reside, And cannons small, with fury deep inside. She dances light upon the ocean's breast, A tiny terror, putting foes to test. Though larger brutes may scorn her humble size.

Losses were akready priced in...going up again as Musk is now back at the helm I think. How far it goes up remains open to question, the brand has certainly been damaged.

As a European, i'm glad to read this. Have been watching developments in the US closely for a long time and starting to give up hope that any proper checks and balances remain in place...this restores some hope. Come back to us America...and learn from what's happened..Europe made mistakes too.

I agree, at its peak Twitter was a fantastic place, really good. Went downhill quickly after you know who took it over.

The chap who designed the coastline got an award for it, mainly due all the fiddly bits. Can't remember his name, quite long and began with "S"...

And to think that my primary school teacher was worried about the arrival of the new "calculator" devices in the 1970s was going to adversely affect our mental arithmetic.

I'm guessing changing tack is a sailing thing when you change from port to starboard tack (or vice versa) as you make your way upwind...

I think this is a key point. The switch from money / finances being the lead (and politics being a supporter / enabler of this) - to the opposite. Trump now seems to be leading with power / politics and he and other GOP people are saying the financial cost is worth it. Will this work out long term?

I think when a crisis first hits, gold can briefly fall as some people are selling it to raise funds....but it should then start to rise again if the longer term outlook is still poor/uncertain.
