hopefully, monsieur diluc was enjoying the flowers. neuvillette had selected each flower that went into the bouquet himself. maybe he was a little extra, but he couldn't quite help himself.

neuvillette took a moment to recover from shock, his lilac irises focusing on the " culprit ". the young woman was clearly not fontainian. thus, she wouldn't know who he was. but to act so recklessly . . . ❛ what is the meaning of this, mademoiselle ? ❜ he inquired.

that he returned to present. but he didn't have time to react and was fully knocked over. a soft grunt escaped him, as he landed on the paved ground with a soft thud. people turned to look, some gasping in surprise or horror at the " disrespect " towards the chief justice himself. +

save for the bed. he had been tossing and turning under the covers for hours.

well, that was awkward. he didn't particularly like being seen in this state. and it was the only time he would take time off, regardless of his workload. ❛ i think i can make an accurate guess. would you like to come in ? ❜ his quarters were always tidy, anyway. +

if he couldn't discuss work - related matters, what was he supposed to talk about ? he had a few hobbies of his own, but he rarely had time to indulge them and he wasn't sure if wriothesley would be interested in any of them.

alot of drama and hypocrisy. ❛ that ─── sounds fair. ❜ he agreed. this was supposed to be their time off. discussing work would defeat the purpose of such. but neuvillette couldn't help being a little worried. +

he was aware of how wriothesley did things in the fortress and how he managed to keep the peace amongst inmates. impressive, truly. being the warden of a prison was certainly no easy feat. then again, dealing with fontaine's court was just as difficult. +

neuvillette knew wriothesley to be intelligent, but the younger man never ceased to amaze him. and that was one of the reasons the iudex enjoyed his company so much. ❛ diverse projects ? ❜ he inquired. ❛ what kind of projects, if you don't mind me asking ? ❜ +

in the chief justice and the duke's shenanigans. when wriothesley broke the silence first, his gaze shifted to the taller man, studying his profile. ❛ such is true. crime doesn't take breaks, therefore neither do i. though, i could say the same about you, your grace. ❜

but he found himself not caring as much in the moment. they weren't committing a crime, after all. he also noted the melusines waving at them, cheerfully and he greeted them silently by inclining his head in acknowledgement. they seemed to be just as interested. +

neuvillette felt people's gazes more intensely than usual. he supposed people weren't used to seeing either of them outside of their respective workplaces. much less together and much less with their arms linked. fontainians loved drama and gossip. he had no doubt that word would spread fast. +

it is quite a relief, really. that wriothesley doesn't seem as confident as he usually is either. that way, neuvillette can relax a little. he takes the warden's arm and nods. ❛ lovely, indeed. ❜ he agreed. that's because the chief justice is in a good mood, so there's no rain. ❛ lead the way. ❜

as well as a little worried, fearing he wouldn't know how to make conversation. this wasn't a work related arrangement, after all.

neuvillette was never late to his appointments. thus, he exited the building at the appointed time and joined wriothesley. ❛ your grace. ❜ he greeted formally, but his expression was fairly relaxed. he'd never been on a picnic before, so he was immensely curious. +

was it a coincidence, or did she know it was that time of the year ? forcing himself out of bed, he dressed in a silky night robe and opened the door. he looked ─── not great. ❛ sigewinne, what's wrong ? ❜ he asked, calmly.
comment in response to post
ugh, who ─── that was sigewinne's voice. he wasn't sleeping, per say. just laying in bed and trying hard to relax. truthfully, he didn't want to see anyone, given his current condition. but sigewinne had come all the way from the fortress for him. +

❛ of course. ❜ neuvillette would employ different methods. dragons have a sensitive nose and each human has a distinct scent. he would just follow diluc's and find him in no time. but again, diluc didn't need to know that.
comment in response to post
❛ it wouldn't be a troublesome task, i assure you. ❜ neuvillette nodded. dragons are great trackers. but diluc didn't need to know that detail.

❛ it is much deserved, monsieur diluc. ❜

the gesture caught him off guard, the slightest hint of pink dusting his cheekbones. for a moment, he stood there, dumbfounded. ❛ o - of course. ❜ he cleared his throat, recovering. ❛ i will be expecting you, your grace. ❜

❛ it is my pleasure, monsieur diluc. please, do not worry about it. ❜
comment in response to post
he really does, but neuvillette is flattered nonetheless. ❛ you did win that bet. therefore, it is only right for me to reward you accordingly. although, i do not understand why spending time with me is considered a worthy reward for your feats. you could have asked for anything. ❜

❛ no imposing at all, monsieur diluc. i will make the necessary arrangements as soon as possible. ❜ he nodded.
