At least in cyberpunk games the villains are terrifyingly competent. In the real world they just have to convince a large enough group of other people to operate purely on hate and they get to do whatever they want.

Some of them are actually AI bots configured to find random posts to be contrary about and nothing else. Ever since I spotted one, I immediately blocked any randos behaving that way ever since, because its either a bot or a person comfortable being very weird towards a stranger.

I do sometimes write purely self-indulgent AU fluff for fun, though I sometimes run out of steam for those after a while, because of ADHD and my inability to keep up with discord rp long term (sorry 😔 friends).
