Alternatively, a dollar-for-dollar tax on pharma ad buys, the proceeds used to pay for Medicare/medicaid.

You should get a hairstylist and an artist to team up to draw a portrait of what t-Rump looks like when his hair is wet/without any product.

Questions re: terminated civil servants: (1) Are they eligible for unemployment benefits; (2) Do they retain their pensions; (3) Do they have to say “terminated for cause” of future job applications; and, (4) Are the eligible for rehire?

That’s a really BIG waist!

@adamkinzinger.bsky.social looking at the bigger picture, here’s what’s next for the midterms: (1)GOP candidates receive obscene amounts of campaign money from US oligarchs; and, (2) FBI conducts very public investigations of opposition candidates. “We” are not the “bad guys.” We’re the victims.

So we’re giving a bunch of 20-something hackers access to our social security numbers and financial information (like bank accounts and routing information?!). Yeah, that can only be good for us.

I dunno, @gtconway.bsky.social , do you think maybe ‘Through the Grapevine’ was actually looking in the mirror when he wrote his “loser” post? Projection or Confession, I think.

I agree as to the motives, but I’m not sure I would characterize it as “stupid.” Complacent, distracted, even “stressed,” is how I see it. Combined with the loss of a sense of community (replaced by “social media” driven by algorithms), I would even add “lonely.” The end result is the same.

We should be careful that we not confuse, “don’t know what they’re talking about,” with, “don’t know what they’re doing.” They know EXACTLY what they are doing - consolidating power in the hands of a man who is easy to manipulate.

By all means; when you’re in debt and operating at a deficit, impair your primary source of revenue. Only a very stable genius would think of this!

I think there are two even more fundamental questions: who are you “saving” it from; and, who are you “saving” it for? Then we get to Kyle’s question, “who are you inviting to do the ‘saving?’”

And for their next trick, FBI investigations and DOJ arrests of opposition party candidates running against vulnerable GOP legislators.

I am truly sorry they are in this position, but it sounds like an opportunity for a “Breakfast Club” type of resignation letter.

“Amazing” doesn’t give its author enough credit. I acknowledge the courage of the action, and I applaud the integrity that underlies both the resignation and the messages contained in the letter. Respectfully, a Retired Attorney

Basic finance: if you’re losing money (re: operating at a deficit) you DO NOT cut the department that generates revenue. That’s like a business saying, “we’re losing money, so let’s cut our sales and production departments.”

Nobody hears, “an agency isn’t performing its duties.” Rephrase to, “banks, lenders, and fraudsters are now free to rip you off again!”

Judy D, I appreciate the thought, but I’m not sure protesting t-Rump or Elmo gets through. How about protesting in front of a GOP legislator’s home office demanding he/she exercise Art. I authority? When THAT starts getting through the maybe things change?
comment in response to

Elmo does NOTHING for “free.” There’s an endgame that is only just coming into focus where “X” becomes the “Amazon” of social media and finance.

@mcuban.bsky.social I agree, and you’re on the right track. Read Adam Grant’s “Think Again” (if you haven’t already). Really good discussion on how to “influence” instead of “argue.”

If we’re going to change minds (or alternatively change our own perspectives) then we NEED people who disagree on this forum. It’s hard to see a “Blue Sky” from the bottom of a rabbit hole. I’ll block threatening or extreme profane responses, but I’ll at least consider the rest.

Dems need to reach voters in GOP districts and inform them of the local impacts that will result from agency closures and funding cuts. Only THEN will GOP be motivated to reassert Art. I authority. STOP talking about “Trump” and “Musk.” It’s not getting through.
comment in response to
post
Dems need to stop tying Musk’s actions to Trump and start tying them to GOP legislators. Until those legislators start feeling the heat they will do nothing to reassert their Art I authority. Right now, they just say, “ I’m not the one doing this stuff.”

To All; I am in no way a McConnell fan, but might we set aside the political rhetoric and simply acknowledge that a person had a significant health & safety issue? Maybe we leave the trolling to X? I hope his injuries are not serious and I wish him well.

Dear Dems. You need to get out of the bleachers and into the game. We elected you to represent us in the contest, not to merely jeer from the sidelines.

Does t-Rump realize he authorized a foreign govt to deploy 10,000 troops to the US border? They are there to oppose any US incursion into Mexico. How long has it been since a foreign govt had this many troops against our borders?

To be clear, when t-Rump blames DEI he is saying, “if you’re not a straight, white, male, it’s your fault.” No matter what “it” is, it’s your fault. He’s also saying, “if you’re not a straight, white, male, you have not earned any accomplishment or promotion on merit. Projection or confession?

Affected organizations unable to meet the needs of their constituents should simply tell people, “I’m sorry, but Donald Trump stopped our funding.” Move this conversation out of the media directly to the front lines. Meet voters where they are.
