Oh, Im sorry to hear that. But, as they say, everything happens for a reason. I hope this curveball turned out to be a positive one in the long run.
Our go-to in Mexico is Playa Del Carmen. I have a friend that I went to university with that lives there. He was born in Mexico City.

We are in Mexico for 3 weeks at the end of Jan. Then we stay in Roatan for a couple of weeks and head home 1st week of March.
