Thank you! @wrl.sh s st4b is probably my nr 1 choice, especially in a sound design context.
comment in response to post
had no choice with that name

yo this is sick, big ass metal clank

You cant just say any ol nonsense thats not how this works

the lettering on this is insane

i dont have that kind of oven
comment in response to post
you could put them in the oven at 200°C for about ten minutes
comment in response to post
i think its best if youre left to reflect on this on your own

Do you even know how they make purple dye its literally just red and blue mixed how are you this ignorant of the process
comment in response to post
It doesnt do de transienting yet, bc its basically a crossfade right now, but it probably could be added
comment in response to post
Yes, exactly, it first bandpasses the signal and then tries to isolate the transients using some envelope following nonsense. Thanks a lot!
comment in response to post
you could probably construct two sounds with identical psr but wildly different dynamics
comment in response to post
yeah it's very interesting to see you explore this, i've been meaning to learn to use your meter properly for a while now, to someone unfamiliar it's quite a change
comment in response to post
yeah what i had in mind would probably have to measure dynamics per critical band or something of that sort, dynameter looks to k-weighted, but still broadband, which doesn't quite seem to be how perception works.
comment in response to post
i could imagine a spectrogram or spectrum analyser style readout as opposed to a single number would be more useful. basically that shows dynamics per critical band over time
comment in response to post
both probably affect how we hear dynamics
comment in response to post
@airwindows.com has been doing some very interesting stuff using slew measurements iirc, that's a whole different approach that may bear some fruit. honestly there are probably different aspects to dynamics entirely. like the timpanic membrane is broadband, while the cochlea is decidedly not
comment in response to post
Not that I have a better solution, it feels like an unsolved problem really
comment in response to post
This measures psr right? To be perfectly honest I feel like that's actually quite far off from how dynamics are perceived
comment in response to post
yeah basically what this would measure would be entirely independent of lufs i think. itd probably get a different figure for each critical band type thing and then average them somehow
comment in response to post
you can tell quite often sth was written by AI i feel, it can be surprisingly obvious considering how little parameters there are to text
comment in response to post
yup, there we go, a cuntpressor that goes down to audio rate. because fuck dynamics

comment in response to post
its like vaguely related to audio rate gating ig? sometimes ppl call it type b saturation i think, it can sound real cool
comment in response to post
yeah exactly what im doing lol,
comment in response to post
not much, it adds distorted transients back to the original signal. theyre distorted by cubing the signal, so they get extra weird n snappy. and then you can filter what range exactly is added.
comment in response to post
here's an audio demo fo my thing
comment in response to post
That gives me an idea tho, maybe a cuntpressor with adjustable rms that goes all the way down to audio rate could be a fun little project
