It's the same with USAID and CDC etc nobody takes any notice whilst health protection and disease containment and eradication works. They only notice when it doesn't.

People are so used to glorifying first responders whenever there's a catastrophe. But prevention never gets mentioned. Prevention is just not sexy.

Amen to that.
So much of society relies on a large number of complex systems going sacredly and silently right. The problem is that as long these systems run smoothly, they are invisible.
And then you end up with people who don't realize that these systems exist at all.
