Just to set the record straight: McLean *claimed* the Civil War started "in his backyard"; he did have a farm around Manassas, but there's no evidence that there was fighting on his actual land.

One of the most interesting things to me visiting this site: Lincoln's strong desire for the generosity that ended the war without humiliating the South. It is interpreted here as a positive, but I wonder, in the long term, was it? Was that lack of humiliation what allowed Jim Crow, and all the […]

I'm glad that they decontaminated and are reclaiming the site, but sad for that piece of history to be gone. The biggest building and biggest industrial factory ever built at the time, it was something to see (or at least so my 25+ year old vague memories say...)

Having not heard any booms I guess the violent stage of the revolution hasn't started yet. #EndBillionaires #HandsOff

And by "rouge" I of course mean "patriotic" and "actually gives a shit about this country".

For decades, the right has targeted the protections of the 1965 Voting Rights Act, most visibly via court decisions, as well as spurious voter roll #purges and #gerrymandering efforts, which warp territorial districting law to divide opponents and consolidate supporters. One of the most […]

@ai6yr I saw a small group of road-side sign holders (not sure if it's accurate to call them a protest precisely) here in VA a month or two ago open carrying and promoting left/blue views and "we have guns too". I'm still not sure how I feel about it but I do feel like some kind of organized […]

@ai6yr this is my nightmare and why part of me wonders if Hands Off's strong advice to not bring weapons is actually the best balance. But then again escalation is only going to make it worse. It's ugly. 😞

Come to think of it I also don't know if I have any 140W cables
comment in response to post
Not 100% sure what device-side stuff I have that I'm sure does 140W...
comment in response to post
Hmm, specs page claims it does, I really thought it was older than the 240W spec... don't necessarily trust them to have not reused the model number, but oh well.

Now I'm wondering if my meter supports > 100W though, so I can't even test 140W support.

I sure wish there was some consistent external marking to go with the chipping. 😑
comment in response to post
Okay, so, reading Wikipedia and the PD spec and continued testing has convinced me that these cables won't go >60W because that requires actual chipping so the adapter/computer know its capabilities. But they shouldn't be restricted below that unless they have actual pins missing (and I'm not […]

Basically I'm trying to figure out if I should just throw these out of my cable bin, or if they're actually decent enough to use.

Oh right, because hardware lock-in, none of us have any alternatives to leave if we want to keep using our expensive hardware. 😞

How is this app *still* this broken?

This is on a stream started by TRYING to get it to just play pure Weird Al Yankovic, by the way. And in the mix has been Weird Al, Imagine Dragons, Billy Joel, and ... that. Among other oddities.

@TNLNYC bisecting archive.org suggests it changed between Feb 10 and Feb 21.

@evan don't specifically recall Gaza or Panama but I definitely saw Greenland and Canada here in Williamsburg, VA.
