Everything he says in public is performative and theatrical for his base. Of course, they know who the students are, but he wants to show how far he is willing to go while at the same time putting the boot to higher education.

We need sound guidance as a nation to navigate our various serious health threats. I know, let's get a recovering heroin addict lawyer who has a conflicted relationship with reality to do it.

God bless them. A sign of sanity still surviving.

But why the pointy hats? Pointy-headed state rights supporters?

Why is this a public discussion? Weren't we always depending on the Dept. Of Education to ensure children were not exposed to material that would be harmful. Maybe we should make a rule. How bout that? Don't expose our kids to non age appropriate material. Whew. Saves sorting through every book.

Even if they should exist, isn't this simply a failure of DS and her Dept. of Education? Why the heck are they broadcasting such epic ineptitude? Maybe she thinks she needs a referendum about whether she should do her job?

PB and Honey is a beautiful thing I seem to recall one brand that had strips of grape jelly/jam already laid in.

I hope this was a Beetlejuice reference, otherwise ????

Fewer people will have to think at all—a lot fewer. AI will reference itself at all times, so we can expect a rapid homogenization of discourse. I believe reading books may become a mandatory requirement to avoid the pablum.

I have no specific knowledge, but as a pragmatic matter, unless the need was specific to one's ability to carry out their duties, I doubt they would do any medical procedure. I have no idea how gender affirming care was ever justified.

It's not a big flex. It just a coincidence. Like Bob Ross's happy trees.

I'm pretty sure there are lots of bigots and politicians in the military. The Sec Def for instance. A friend had her surgeries while enlisted and it was definitely something she could never have afforded otherwise.
comment in response to

I think some amount of the resistance by the military is cost. They become responsible for medical for members. If a person is deemed to need surgeries to be completely well, the army is duty bound to provide it. All surgeries. It is costly and may require extended recovery time off duty.

I am unclear what the concern is. Shouldn't the king attend the 250th? It seems odd to me but not my circus, and Yankees love them some real Royalty. Fawning over movie stars and money must become boring and kings are the real deal.

Carney could have invited Trump to meet the King and I expect trump would have loved it. But no treats for bad babies.

It proves a connection to the UK and the EU as well as to other Commonwealth nations. It's a chip in Carney's pocket when reimagining trade without the US.

Keeping the NW passage open allows truck/rail freight to Vancouver, then up and over. Maintaining heavy haul roads or rail beds on permafrost to Churchill, with constant maintenance required, is an issue.

I love the enthusiasm, but Churchill is only open sailing 4 months of the year.

I don't even care if they don't help but they will get the fuck out of the way. We have work to do. Danni is skating on thin ice with pending corruption allegations and dearly needs this distraction/deflection. So there's that.

We have seen it already. The petulant premier of our top petroleum-producing province was so perturbed she said she would take her province and products out of Canada. She has the delusion that as a temporary hire as CEO she has this ability, but her new friend Steve Bannon said she could.

Patrimonial government is custom-made and managed to allow the most corrupt to rob the treasury. By function, it can't allow democracy to operate.

🇨🇦We just barely dodged a massive wreck. The far right has been pounding the drum of hatred and fear so long, many mistook it for reality. People with common sense respond to their reality. It's not the people voting It's the message ubiquitous in the culture. Good luck.

The problem is we see that only as a symptom of a far larger problem. What happened that everyone isn't straight up going insane about this, to me is flagrant south american style, death squad behavior. Who are these people with no insignia, personal identification or knowable chain of command?

First, require ICE agents to wear identifying markings, including a personnel number, if not a name. They think they have qualified immunity at this point, but at this point, it's just their opinion.

That would be preferred, but it is not going to happen this term. Even if the Dems win the House in the midterms and vote to impeach, they won't command 60% of the Senate, so it's a dead issue. Same as last time.

Unchecked recidivism is a pressing problem Carney has to address directly and strongly. In the GTA alone 34 vehicles were stolen daily in 2023, which translates to one vehicle stolen every 40 minutes. Shall we count the times people have given up freedom for safety? Yes, I know it's a bad bargain.

The executive summary for a constituent: They are the person who hates all the things you do and isn't afraid to be the frontman for those opinions.
comment in response to

They are the product of a population that feels it has been forced to accept things it doesn't agree with socially, scientifically, or politically. Candidates who have issues with one or even two of these are not considered pure enough. Add a dollop to racist reactionary and you have a candidate.
