Accurate.

I direct everyone to Steve Morris' seminal piece upon this question.

This. We need our electeds to be leading on this, as with so many things, rather than worrying about some skewed poll produced from a conservative outlet. Get in front of this, of human rights, of health care, of living wages for all, of building a future for all. What’s the way forward?

Holy crap! This whole thread! Buckle up cuz it’s a long one but so so worth it.

HAPPY 616 DAY! (Watch this! It's too cool! I HAD NO IDEA THIS WAS COMING!)

@forbeck.com you seen this?!

Finally catching up on #Murderbot (aeen up to E5), and it is fabulous. If you can, I urge you to watch and support it, because it is so good. And I hope beyond hope it gets a second season. Martha Wells and the whole team deserve it.

It is really really sinking in for me the degree to which LLMs are the ultimate expression of right wing anti-intellectualism. Its proponents are literally mocking the idea that anyone would ever want to learn anything, know anything, develop any actual skill, or have a thought of their own.

You should celebrate! Watch their accessible-to-westerners, gateway drug movies, "Spirited Away"/"Arietty!" Then watch one of their most popular, "Princess Mononoke!" Then watch "The Boy and The Heron," Hayao's partial autobio where he's clearly totally stopped giving a shit about accessibility!

This is a strong point.

Let’s not mince words on exactly what the MAGA movement is.

A study came out recently that found people shouldn’t brush their teeth with their left hand. It’s better to use a toothbrush instead. (Don’t be mad at me! Kid Kidwell, 17, hit me with that one. I take no responsibility for its provenance.)

A terrible superhero/super villain name just popped into my head: The Belgian Waffler. You’re welcome.

Thread...

We ain’t in the mood for your shenanigans. Or his. You know who we’re talking about.

This is incredible

Only because of all the novels it stole.

Why the gov. freak out over LA? Power is not rooted in organization, but in disruption. Unions don’t do enough disruption, they are too busy organizing. It bleeds off anger, energy. Voting doesn’t do enough disruption. It channels anger and energy into systems controlled by the government.

Wife just asked me to open this. “I want to see what it looks like,” she says. “Oh, I don’t know. Bound to be racy,” I answered and am now dying laughing. Daggers. From her eyes! Can’t breathe

A little chew before bed.

Didn’t expect this from Scientific American but here we are. (Article from 2020 but everything still relevant including COVID precautions)

Abolish ICE.

Really? Geez. We hadn’t noticed. How about how all this was done illegally? I’m sure there’s much more we can dig into here, isn’t there? No?

Way to go @dcpubliclibrary.bsky.social!

Proud to say we’ve gone from this horror show starting the first week in January to this. Fence posts back in and we might have our yard back soon. So eager to be able to use the back door and letting the dogs have the run of the yard. Walking them back there on leashes has been torture for them.

I think we missed an opportunity when naming our new huskies last September. We should have gone with Violent and Snuggles.

I had a contract lawyer tell me yesterday that redlining permission to feed one’s work into generative AI was pointless because once said work hits the internet, it’s going right into generative AI anyway and there’s no way to stop it, and I’m still face down on my kitchen table.

A lot of today was spent drawing this wallpaper. Pen is a Pilot G Tec C4. For my upcoming (and unannounced) book with Rick Remender.

Started the day pulling ragweed out of our prairie garden. But the pretty makes it worth it.
