So far we’ve landed on Woody is Cloud, Sam is Cid, Diane is Aerith, Norm is Barrett, Frasier is Sephiroth, Eddie is Red XIII, Martin is Hojo, and Niles is Genesis.

Just started season 7. The episodes are now in 16:9 HD and it’s very funny how obvious it is that this was filmed when they were broadcasting in both HD and SD. There’s just an absurd amount of dead space on the sides. The credits text feels so small in the center of the frame.

Guess since I’m sick I’ll use this time to get caught up on Dragon Ball Daima. I saw the theatrical screening of the first three episodes last year and thought it looked fine, but from the images I’ve seen of the last couple episodes I’m thinking this’ll have the fanservice that I crave lol.

Funniest part about the presentation of Pokemon on Pluto TV is the closed captions. Any time a Pokemon is speaking they just put the cadence, so Pikachu will be giving an impassioned “Pikachu, pi pika pi!” and the caption will say “[CONFIDENT]”, like hell yeah.

Shoegaze I think could have been a solid followup to Alt if Grunge didn’t exist and they gave Shoegaze 6 eps instead of 3. It had potential, but just felt way too rushed to get invested in. Those are just my takes, though, perhaps I’m just too generous as a Toonami fan.

Great thing about this app is that unlike Facebook, I can post something like this here without some boomer I barely know commenting some condescending bullshit like “Welcome to adult life! You work yourself to exhaustion every week until you die!” Yeah buddy, no shit.

One funny thing, though, is that my fiancée and I started watching The Simpsons from the beginning recently and it’s very apparent how much Nigel Wick is just trying to be a live action (and yet somehow more cartoony) Mr. Burns.

I dunno, overall I’d say the first four seasons were fun to revisit, after that it’s kinda hit and miss until I guess it just fizzles out.

The biggest thing the show has done to upset me, though, is in season 5 when Steve gets engaged to Mimi and she pussy whips him out of cross dressing anymore. Like I know I’m looking at an old sitcom through a modern lens, but that shit was beyond lame and kinda infuriating.

Basically the whole sixth season has been a little rough to watch. It’s just Drew being beaten further and further into rock bottom. It’s mean spirited in a way that just isn’t fun or amusing to watch.

So I’m towards the end of season 6 now. Yesterday I watched the 3-parter with Drew’s near death experience, which I always remember as a kid this episode being considered the point where the show lost its spark. Honestly on this watch, I’d say the decline starts to happen earlier than that.

Looks like it was just a short run thing. Might be fun for some light reading if it comes out stateside.
