The USDA's announcement comes while the Department of Energy is scrambling to find the federal workers who oversee our nuclear weapons stockpile who THEY accidentally fired. Imagine how many people Trump/Musk fired who they're not gonna realize they needed until the body count starts climbing.

It seems almost unavoidable at this point that we are headed for a deep, deep recession. Just based on 200K+ federal firings & pullback of contracts, the March employment report (to be released April 4) seems certain to show bigger job losses than any month ever outside of a few in 2008-9 and 2020.

This is a concerning milestone. Bringing new investigations and prosecutions is different than just dismissing cases against allies.

This is why you fight these cowards. The moment you stand up to them, they crumble. Homan has nothing. The Fourth Amendment is clear and I am well within my duties to educate people of their rights. He can threaten me with jail and call names all he wants. He’s got nothing else.

Here is my Federal Employment Termination story:

JUST IN: Another medical horror story in an affidavit from a USAID employee stationed overseas. Says his pregnant wife was not medevac-ed for emergency health care because of directives from DC. Took intervention of a U.S. senator to reverse — but was too late. s3.documentcloud.org/documents/25...

These absolute morons are going to destroy the United States. If you’re in favor of the US leaving NATO, you either don’t want the US to succeed, or you don’t know wtf NATO does. Worth noting that Mike Lee voted to expand NATO in 2022.

NBC News confirms: An IRS employee affiliated with Elon Musk's DOGE has accessed an IRS system that holds sensitive taxpayer information. @msnbc.com

Marc is a budget guy with the CRFB 👇🏽 We know it’s hard to debunk Elon’s firehose of lies. But try.

We need more of these op-eds in purple and red state local newspapers. Right wing MoC are getting their understanding of cuts from Xitter and Fox. They don't realize how many programs they favor are being cut, some irreparably.

I've been waiting for an instance of censorship by government outlet Xitter that someone could build a 1A case around. This might be the one! @mluckovich.bsky.social

I feel like I'm going insane every time I see a media story about DOGE that doesn't also mention the fact that the Government Accountability Office exists and performs the exact function that DOGE pretends to, only in a credibly constitutional, non-partisan, and conflict-of-interest-free manner

Within the administration, one strain wants a sleek state that narrowly seeks to maximize investment returns; one, a shackled state unable to promote social justice; and one, a shattered state that cedes authority to competing projects of decentralized private rule. www.nybooks.com/online/2025/...

History buffs will know that every authoritarian leader eventually converges on some version of: "I *am* the state. I can not break the law, I am the law, the law is instantiated in me." Our march to authoritarianism so far has been excruciatingly by-the-book. Hitting every beat. No surprises.

An excellent question. Where are the Fortune 500 & Wall Street CEOs? Where are the university presidents? Where are the civil society leaders? Not just speaking out specifically in defense of their institutions & democracy, but also about 🇺🇸's global interests? The silence is deafening & shameful.

Disgusting 🤮😡🖕

CFPB's former chief technologist issues an urgent warning to the court that several years' worth of sensitive data is about to be destroyed, with damaging consequences storage.courtlistener.com/recap/gov.us...

CBS is one of a dozen U.S. outlets that responded to authoritarianism by shifting coverage further right, which is why we're calling rounding up minorities in the middle of the night and dumping them in random countries they've never been to a "breakthrough"

That sound you hear is the sound of alarms finally going off.

A Trump-Musk memo telling US government employees to hide what’s happening from the public is a sign that: 1) Public legitimacy is a constraint for them, they know it, and will at times alter their behavior accordingly 2) Reporters should focus on it, revealing more of what they’re trying to hide

"...if there is no one within earshot who will speak truth to power, then anything is possible for this administration."

Awful: Internal USAID memo instructs employees to refrain from talking to the media about cuts in assistance to the most vulnerable or they may get fired, WaPo reports. Trumpworld knows this is a big political problem for them. Keep the focus on it. New piece: newrepublic.com/article/1915...

Yesterday I did a rewrite on a blog post for an eye care tech company. I pulled the CDC and NIH links in the original, replaced them with research journals and non-profit health orgs. US gov data is no longer the gold standard - or even consistently available. How far we have fallen, and how fast.

Spot on.

Two Little, Two Late

The IRS was a simple test for DOGE: was it really interested in efficiency and state capacity? If so, you support the tax enforcement, the biggest ROI in govt. Or did it want to minimize parts of the state that bothered billionaires? We have our answer. open.substack.com/pub/donmoyni...

End DOGE’s destruction of our government now. www.huffpost.com/entry/elon-m...

NEWS: Hagan Scotten, one of the SDNY attorneys prosecuting Eric Adams' case, has resigned ... and is blasting the Trump Justice Department on the way out.

Are any of these hot-shot programmers bright enough to think through this progression? - “Wow, maybe we misinterpreted that.” - “This might not be the best approach.” - “I should speak out!”
