We go crazy for pretty much anything that Thinks It’s People, so I get it, and there could really be something to it. But it’s funny that the most zealous LLMers have so little interest in art and literature they’re insisting The Humanities come tell them if they’re doing a good job imitating it.

No coincidence that a certain slur has reemerged at the same time, again across political lines, as a way to signal a kind of 'facts not feelings' realism that's really just the usual impulse to judge people as means, designate an out-group for contempt, and express insecurity.

I know that research supports standardized intelligence testing as a reliable way to predict certain statistical outcomes, but in popular usage it just looks like a set of calipers or a self-limiting belief and for whatever reason its resurrection has become a real pet peeve for me.

Well, I don’t know if I’d say “mind-blowing” (some of the speculation out there seems pretty fantastical), though I’m sure there’s lots I don’t know about. For us there’s just been more pre-show activity than usual, I’d say.
