One thing I’d like to know is where we think we are heading that we’ve apparently decided we can’t slow down enough to read and write and learn things and spend time with each other. What’s the collective project and vision for the future that’s worth rushing ahead.

This is two global elections in ONE WEEK where the conservative candidate trying to become prime minister not only led his party to a big loss but lost their own seat in parliament (!) in huge upsets. We are global pariahs unseen since the end of the Cold War and need stronger domestic opposition.

"in this confusing time for young men" Não queria fazer uma pergunta retórica porque sei que vocês não se aguentam, mas qual é a confusão que o Tate desfaz? Os meninos estavam em dúvida se mulheres deveriam ser tratadas como seres humanos e, finalmente, apareceu alguém para determinar que não?

AOC: Tom Homan said he was going to refer me to DOJ because I’m using my free speech rights in order to advise people of their constitutional protections… to that I say: Come for me… Do I look like I care? There’s nothing illegal about it and if they want to make it illegal, they can come take me.

This is an outrageous policy change. Also, if you’re gonna do this then you gotta do it for drivers, too right? Given those are obviously far far more dangerous vehicles. nyc.streetsblog.org/2025/05/02/p...

‘Kennedy told reporters that there were "many, many good ways to treat measles and doctors need to know that and to know those methods.’ One problem; there is no treatment for measles. Signed, a doctor who’s been forced to deal with measles because of this stupid fraud.

Just to be clear, this is a violation of the fundamental ethical principle in clinical trial design called "equipoise." Equipoise means that no-one is exposed to excess risk just to test the therapy. That's specifically *why* vaccine trials don't use placebo arms. Ethical violation as POLICY.

Happy May Day, don’t be a scab.

A reminder that every small bit of good you do - whether it be putting art into the world, helping a friend or stranger, donating to a good cause, or just listening to someone who needs to vent - offsets all the evil in the world just a little bit. And sometimes that's just what the world needs.

This is a big deal—not just a process-based ruling, but a holding that Trump’s Alien Enemy Act proclamation is substantively invalid on its face. This will obviously not be the last word, but it’s a really important step in the AEA litigation.

Say it after me: Chat GPT is not a search engine. It does not scan the web for information, it just generates statistically likely sentences. You cannot use it a search engine, or as a substitute for searching. Now. Please never use an LLM for information searches ever again.

Federal workers discover treatments and cures for diseases. They keep us safe from disasters and emergencies of all kinds. What’s more, they take care that the laws are faithfully executed every day even when the president is trying to thwart and destroy the laws and the Constitution.

The Libraries are seeking donations of red dresses for a Red Dress display outside Goodell Hall, running from May 5–9. The Red Dress display honors the Missing and Murdered Indigenous Women and Girls (#MMIWG) movement. (1/3)

It's Independent Bookstore Day, so remember that red states are pushing bills that would force booksellers to cover displays related to pride, hide books like "1984" and effectively ban "Banned Book" sections — all under the guise of protecting minors from "pornography" www.msn.com/en-us/news/u...

What an image! Venezuelan men who narrowly avoided being imprisoned by Trump in El Salvador without trial (saved by the Supreme Court) spelled out an SOS to a @reuters.com camera drone observing the Bluebonnet ICE facility. 11 days ago, buses to the airport were turned around at the last second.

This is Linda Martin. A few years ago, the FBI seized her life savings: $40,200. The kicker: She was never charged with a crime—and the government couldn’t tell her why it took her money. Martin is far from the first. But she is trying to make sure she is the last. A thread.

The Supreme Court is hearing oral arguments in St. Isidore v. Drummond this morning. It is a case that could blow up public education and the separation of church and state as we know it. 🧵

Not to be a Wednesday morning quarterback, but if the president is saying something not just false but stupid, it's probably a good idea to keep asking questions. (Do you know what Photoshop is? Who told you this guy had MS-13 tattooed on his knuckles? Who gave you the blown-up picture?)
