And going to invite my firstborn to watch The Longest Day with me tonight. Remember, Nazi lives don't matter.

There's baked beans and potato salad inside. And because summertime is an individual vibe, I brought home a book on Quebecois songs with a whole selection on 7 Years' War Marian hymns.

I appreciate you!

But it's also not a "Global Middle Ages" class, which makes global a connective tissue, it's a "Medieval World History," which, while still equally problematic, is focused on the timeframe across the world. That might seem like semantic bullshit! It might BE semantic bullshit! But.

No no, I think that makes good sense. I push back in teaching solely because the chronological slice we use for surveys cannot also be a geographical slice without ignoring the Americas, and I'm unwilling to do that. But for research and connectivity, absolutely.

I get that it's a catchy title but I find it frustrating as well. Doing the hemisphere well is already a huge deal! That's a lot of languages and cultures and source bases! You don't need to artificially inflate it.

As I hope you know, I respect your opinion immensely, which is why I have my surveys read your hemispheric middle ages pieces and open with why you're right, I'm wrong, and yet I'm doing it anyway 😂

So glad all the fascists want Trump and Musk to touch penises and engage in naked pork sword combat, now follow that to its logical conclusion and stop trying to kill my friends and students.

(Even when we disagree on whether you can use "medieval" as a framework in the other hemisphere, we absolutely agree that it's not global if it's not the entire damn globe)

I've never "had to hand it to the Oneida community" before but nowadays?

...oooooooh. Is there any truth to this, because that would be a delicious piece of genuinely vital gossip/historical detail to all this?

Honestly, that might be a secondary benefit to the main intention, reminding him not to be a fucking douchebag to Germany.

Tess, how do you explain... today?... to offline people? I don't even know where to start, and you are so much deeper in all of this that I am that...

These people are fucking monsters. Don't ever forget that, even as you watch them fight. They are all the enemy.

Listen I know we can but I'm against that too. Just because a person we hate is an immigrant doesn't mean we have to cede the policy concept.

The same people "hur hur"ing over the small town Missouri folks outraged their neighbor was arrestes by ICE are now cheering deportation because social media and crowdsourcing propaganda is the real brain worms.

The enemy of my enemy is sometimes also my enemy and I throw rocks at both.

Send Elon Musk to prison for his crimes, not South Africa because you're halfway to being Republican on immigration.
