Trump Hates Canada for it's Decency. Yep, that's a pretty good read, I think. As a native Minnesotan, can I just reach out to our Northern neighbour once again, and ask that you absorb us? Please? We're nice too! Ya betcha! open.substack.com/pub/paulkrug...

That’s right. 🇺🇦

Once again, nifty stuff happening in the ground-floor atrium in my Uni building. And, as per normal: I have no idea what is going on. 🙃

So, at work today, I walked through an absolute miasma (Yes, THAT much of an invasive) smell of something resembling a sewer. Glagh… Then I saw this van.

About to run a session about rubrics. Welp… At least the view ain’t bad.

Okay... I honestly burst out laughing at this one... www.theguardian.com/technology/2...

Every now and again, I get lucky. I make a photo that really speaks to the current mood. Winner from this past weekend:

It's Friday! It's grey and wet, and windy... Or, as it's otherwise known as: February in England. I hope everyone has a good weekend, or at leas can unplug a bit a relax. 'Cause <gestures frantically in every direction>

Wait. Why is this stuff happening now? When did Not-sees become okay in the US? I don't????? What???

I mean... This sort of article is nothing more than a gut-punch, if you ask me... They've 'acquired' an amazing collection. Here's why it's amazing... Wow! Oh, no upcoming exhibition is planned, or anything... No... Just... We've got some pictures. Ugh!!!!! www.theguardian.com/artanddesign...

Yeah... A then 14 year old refugee escaping from Afghanistan defintely showed 'poor character.' Strike this law change... Go back, say you are sorry, Labour. www.theguardian.com/uk-news/2025...

It's already half way through the half way day of the week. Wow. "Quick it is going..." -- Yoda Here's a nice glimpse of what could only be called 'Urban Hell' when one really thinks about it. Welcome to the Brighton Marina, indeed...

How to say you really hate students, without actually saying that you hate students. 🙄

JD Vance is so nauseatingly unlikeable that he’s literally dragging down the AfD’s approval rating

Welp... To quote Bruce Banner in the first Avenger's movie: "Well, this is all... Horrible." <sigh> I made myself get out on this rather grey weekend, just to get out. And I made my way to the Brighton Marina. It's almost as grim as the news, tbh. However, I did find a few bright moments.

Threatened UK steel industry employs 40K people. £2.3bn contribution to UK economy. Government - here have £2.5 bn Collapsing UK universities employ 400K people. Contribute £265bn to UK economy. Government - ummmmm…

Good morning to this man, and this man only #bbcqt

Well. It's Friday. It has been a week. Every week, now-a-days... Is a 'week.' I had a nice treat of a walk with my partner this morning before work. Grab the joy when ya can.

What you are seeing this morning over the refugee decision is Labour alienating and offending its remaining liberal supporters without bringing any new voters onside.

As Labour seems to be doubling down on Out-Faraging the Reform party, the Green's seem to be stepping up. Labour's naturalisation block on refugees is repugnant. Shame!!!

Super great that one of the major funding bodies that supports my physics research is now officially in opposition to me being the one to do it.

Once again you're all shocked and horrified that a giant autocomplete engine that *does not know stuff* makes stuff up. C'mon, you should know this by now.

Do NOT alight here. Okay? Just… Don’t

This is a good response from the European Commission. TL;DR: we're not dignifying every brainfart with a response unless there's some solid detail, but broadly, this is fucking insane.

Yeah. So, I just can't do it anymore. I've cancelled my NYTimes subscription. I've been a subscriber for almost 20 years, however I believe they're impartiality has sufffered under the latest #OrangeMeany regime, and there's not a point to it anymore.

An astoundingly misleading column by Colville. Firstly, ignores that there is already a 10 year route to ILR, shown to be massively damaging all round. Ignores many dependents also earn, and can't claim support from the state, and the grooming gangs line is frankly just a dog whistle. 1/

I laughed out loud. I should be clear, my partner is the data-nerd in the family, but the language coming from the back-office occasionally turns a bit sour, so I understand this comic tangentially.

In the last two academic years, 2022/2024, at least 17,600 jobs have been lost in UK Higher Education. 2024/2025 is set to be far worse. Had this been any other industry there would be outrage and gov action. As ever, young people don't count and neither do university workers. Labour doesn't care.

This looks (or sounds?) rather interesting... Good way to spend a quiet Friday afternoon. 👍

Had to walk to the chemist today to pick up a couple of prescriptions. Came across my favourite 'weird' house where the second floor has their own external stairs. Luckily: Camera! 📷

Anyone else kinda wish that Turnitin WASN'T a thing? 'Cause... Sometimes... Just... Sometimes. <sob>

Look... I just spent 30+ minutes scrolling (okay, doom-scrolling) about events back in the States, and... So, I'm just going to default to photograpy again. My feed leans ugly now-a-days. #SaveMyFeed

It’s funny how people are talking about how we’ll get them “next Election Day” like next Election Day will definitely happen.

I was meant to go on a ‘camera wander’ with a few other photographers today, but my head’s full of cold. Glagh… So, here’s a capture from last night on my way home from the station

So quick question to the group: Ya think I should quit my NYTimes subscription after 15 years? Reading the news from back in the States was always important to me. But now-a-days… Not so much. For the obvious reasons…

Research and Scholarship symposium anyone? #TheThingsOneDoesForWork

Gosh, I really hope this is true... 😈

A glorious Thursday to all of you who read this. We're almost there. I am attending a day-long symposium tomorrow, which of course means today will be frantic trying to do the work of two days in one. Woot! Welp, here we go. Oh, yeah, random act of photography:

Bit off topic, but: People who walk without swinging their arms even a ‘little’ are really creepy.
