I'm not patriotic until I'm playing mario kart

Rachel Reeves "balancing the books" on the backs of the most vulnerable isn't because she is misinformed or doesn't understand economics. It's a deliberate choice. She knows the consequences and doesn't care. At the end of the day, It's not the poor giving her free Sabrina Carpenter tickets.

Save the Children says this could be the first Labour government to “oversee a rise” in child poverty rather than a decline. Still, I’m sure disabled mums can comfort their hungry children with the news Rachel Reeves has managed to stick to her fiscal rules.

The labour party is the new nasty party

Incredibly depressing that we have a newly elected labour government and one of their first major policies is to push more vulnerable people into poverty www.theguardian.com/society/2025...

Susanna Reid on how the Labour govt has gone out of its way to deliberately cause stress and anxiety to some of the most vulnerable people in our society #bbclaurak

Ironically, this "analysis" of the factions within the labour party comes off incredibly biased and factional. It accepts the idea the leadership rallied against the "hard left"- but what is the hard left? You won't find out from this article. www.bbc.co.uk/news/article...

Seeing the Prime Minister cosy up to Donald Trump in order to win favour is so nauseating. Week and pathetic leadership.

UK still refusing to recognise the existence of nonbinary people under any circumstances. Judge says it’s Parliament’s decision, which seems like a way to ensure minority rights remain really hard to get forever www.bbc.com/news/article...

Elon Musk’s fascist turn isn’t puzzling at all. It’s all about labour 🧵

Tomorrow is my last day at my job! I've been there for 3 years and then I'm going back to university to do my masters. It's weird to think that starting Wednesday I'll be unemployed.

Billionaires should not own social media platforms. Billionaires should not run our newspapers. Billionaires should not control our politics. A free media is a democratic media - a public good that is owned and run by us all.

This was such an amazing series

wait how he was able to bypass the forcefield without a Gender Recognition Certificate issued by the British government? the article doesn't say

The government could have finally brought Royal Mail into public ownership. It sold it to a Czech billionaire instead. We are being ripped off. It’s time to put Royal Mail back where it belongs: in public hands. bbc.in/49BZTmP

Labour’s manifesto promised to “remove indignities for trans people”, yet the government’s ban on puberty blockers adopts the Tories’ politicised unevidenced approach. Young people — cis & trans — must have access to healthcare they need. I stand firmly with the trans community.

Labour health secretary Wes Streeting has permanently banned puberty blockers for trans children. There is no evidence they cause harm, which is why they are still available for cis children.

Smoggie queens is so good

This episode of #canadasdragrace could have been sooo good but it was blatantly over produced

Yeah I don't like when people compare Trump getting elected to being abused by a romantic partner. Comes across really scummy.

Stop arming Israel.

no I’m not sharing my Spotify Wrapped.* a person’s relationship with music is unique and it feels cheap to broadcast that thru some corporate marketing tactic *it’s all Taylor Swift

“Don’t feed the trolls” also extends to bad opinion pieces in papers of record. They run them bc people react to them the most. If we stop linking to bad columns and instead post thinkers we find valuable (& generate convo around it), incentives change. It’s not easy and takes constant practice!

Mario and Luigi: Brothership starts incredibly slow but once it picks up momentum it's so fun and addictive.

Finally moved bluesky to the front of my phone and twitter to the back.

Feels good to be team Kyran Thrax tonight!

Soy sauce is delicious i could literally drink a bottle

This is the exact issue with Labour's strategy. It is cruel towards our most vulnerable while never being able to satiate right wing voters. Ultimately, none of these voters will choose labour in the next election. So what is the point other than ideological obsession?

Will the petition to call a general election actually do anything? Obviously not. But it does demonstrate the level of discontent in the country- people being willing to sign- and isn't a good sign for the government going forward.

Not only is this punitive, reductive and aimed at attracting older voters that love to hate younger generations...it won't work. The far right is going to win unless we build an actual alternative rather than justifying their rhetoric like this.

Just incredibly bleak that when a Labour government is finally in power, disabled people still have to wake up to front pages calling them a blight on society.

The Labour government has two options going forward: 1)Blame the ultra wealthy and make massive investments to fix the country, improving community conditions. 2)Blame minorities, legitimising the far right yet never going far enough to satisfy, then losing the next election.

Finally got around to watching avatar the way of water...and the writing is so unbearably bad

"If a woman doesn't look woman enough to a Republican, they want to be able to inspect your genitals to use a bathroom? It's disgusting. Everyone should reject it completely... they're endangering women, they're endangering girls of all kind, and everyone should reject it. It's gross." - AOC

It’s been 24 hours & neither Keir Starmer nor David Lammy have commented on the ICC’s decision to issue arrest warrants for Benjamin Netanyahu & Yoav Gallant for war crimes & crimes against humanity. Perhaps they could apply the same standards as the ones they outlined below:

It’s hard to feel enthusiastic about arrest warrants when it’s blindingly obvious the war criminal should’ve been arrested over a year ago.

Following the ICC's arrest warrants, the Independent Alliance have written to the Prime Minister asking if he will comply with the ruling. The UK government must decide: is it on the side of Israeli impunity or international law?

Continuing to sell arms to Israel is to be complicit in war crimes. These arrest warrants underline how utterly indefensible it is. What is our Government waiting for? www.bbc.co.uk/news/article...

The International Criminal Court has issued arrest warrants for Netanyahu & Gallant for war crimes & crimes against humanity. The UK government must comply with the ICC, end all arms sales, impose economic sanctions & suspend its trade deal with Israel. Nothing less will do.
