When you compare what is on offer, "hard left" doesn't make sense to use. That is, if you think journalism at the BBC is about being accurate and holding truth to power.
The actual aim is to delegitimise. To make those wanting to end child poverty seem as deranged as their opponents.

Hard left is a descriptor used by right wing extremists because of the association of "far right".
The far right wants a return to ultranationalism and fascism; removal of civil liberties.
The "hard left" want to scrap the two child benefit cap.

Unfortunately all signs point to labour doing number 2.
There's going to be a massive rise in the far right, just like in America. When you don't tell a convincing story about why things are bad and what your plan is to fix it- something else will fill that void.
