Water & ice wasn’t working in the brand new fridge. Instead of dealing with warranty service, took the door apart and found 3 cut wires in a big wiring harness. Spliced them back together & good to go. Oh, and I bought a pressure washer.

I’ve been procrastinating putting these pictures back on the wall after the reno because ugh all the measuring & shit. But Father’s Day morning seemed as good a time as any. A few more to go.

Based on crowd-sourced records of No Kings Day event turnout, and extrapolating for the cities where we don't have data yet, it looks like roughly 4-6 million people protested Trump across the U.S. yesterday. That's nearly 2% of the U.S. pop! Mobilized anti-Trump resistance is exceeding 2017 levels

Everyone thinks they have daddy issues, meanwhile this guy lost his dad and did so much heroin it made him believe in alchemy and now we all have to get renaissance diseases

Trying to imagine how seriously fucked up in the head you have to be to put out a press release today reminding everyone that you got legislation passed that allows you to run over protesters if you feel threatened. LA Freedom Caucus is pleading, begging for blood this weekend like a sick fuck.

This would’ve been wild

In another life my wife was a photographer and I helped her shoot weddings. The best man for a wedding we shot in Athens, AL was the lead guitarist for the Alabama Shakes, who at the time just exploded in popularity. The whole band was there as guests.

I’m getting targeted Cuomo for mayor ads on YouTube. Folks, I live in Louisiana.

I’m a one issue voter in 2028 and that issue is cold-blooded and brutal revenge

Updated all-time costliest National Flood Insurance Program (NFIP) events on record. Note: Helene now sits at #4 ($6.18B), though nearly all of those payouts have come in Florida ($5.8B). North Carolina only at ~$0.2B. Most Americans living inland from the coast have no flood insurance coverage.

lol

Every flashbang could instead be a meal for a poor kid. Every hotel room for a National Guardsman deployed to fire at our neighbors could house a homeless vet. Every "less-than-lethal" bullet pulled from a journalist's eye could be already needed healthcare for anyone else. All of this is a choice.

Not sure there’s a cheaper thrill from a sensory experience than pouring coffee into a porcelain mug and drinking out of it.

me: in cheers frasier said his dad was dead but then when sam visited him in seattle he had to explain that he was lying because their relationship was strained but to me the weirder thing is he never mentioned niles to anyone at cheers the federal soldier being unlawfully quartered in my home: ok

This is great and you should read it.

The girl has been at an overnight soccer camp in Jackson since Sunday and based on our morning call her social battery is nearly empty.

bro you have to *work* to get a meal in new orleans that looks this shit

There’s a little bakery a couple of blocks from our hotel and you know we’re trying every bar.

Trump sending troops to US cities isn’t fascism. Real fascism is closing down the Olive Garden during the pandemic, something he also did

Nothing more LA than this woman selling dirty dogs in between rubber bullets and tear gas

“Tasted a little tear gas— tasted like fascism”

Me, normally: Y’know, this place has a lot of problems and we need to address them if we’re going to fix it.” Me, watching international tournaments with US athletes:

Coco! Let’s gooooo!

The Earnhardt documentary is so good.

eye twitching

What's it like inside the National Weather Service right now? @evanbush.bsky.social and @chasecain.bsky.social got a rare look inside one local NWS office. They found dedicated people committed to the mission but an office that is unquestionably short-staffed. www.nbcnews.com/science/scie...

Commerce Sec. Lutnick made a lot of erroneous claims about NWS staffing during congressional testimony this week, including that the Nat'l Hurricane Center is fully staffed. It's not. www.cnn.com/2025/06/06/w...

The summer futsal season started tonight and the girls team got absolutely COOKED. Well done, in fact.

This is still Trump's best Elon work but I have high hopes for the next 24 hours

must be incredibly frustrating and disheartening to have federal funding that was promised to you for important work suddenly and arbitrarily ripped away

this is a day for those of us who have spent the last six months terminally online. this is for us and honestly, we deserve it.

I cannot stress enough that there is a double digit percentage of the population of this nation of more than 300 million people who sincerely believe these are the two smartest men in America.

I was so scared that when it happened it would be anticlimactic or quiet and, gang, it's nice to have a pleasant surprise!!!!

lol hell yea here we go

The Braves we’re winning 10-4 heading into the top of the 9th and they’ve given up 7(!) runs. Garbage.

we’ve gone full Lucille Bluth, never go full Lucille Bluth

We installed mesonet station 13 yesterday on the south side of Natchitoches, LA. Our most efficient site install yet - from site arrival to departure was only 3.5 hours!

Stopping the authoritarian takeover asap is perhaps even more important than historical precedent suggests. There has never been a surveillance state like ours and we are barely using it for nefarious reasons compared to what we could do.

Great collection of authentic bigfoots, haters will say they're bears

We at NSF Unidata are pleased to announce that we have now received funding from the National Science Foundation (NSF) for the next year of our five-year award. This allows us to end the current furlough of our staff and resume our operations. buff.ly/GafcZts

Joni was right

The Jena, LA airport is mesonet station 12. If I could turn back time we would never commit to installing these at airports. Unfortunately some of the most open land in an otherwise heavily treed part of the state.
