"Veel meer geld voor defensie", zegt het moetje van Rutte en anderen. Want we geven te weinig uit. Volgens Our World in Data, echter, gaf Rusland in 2023 126 biljoen dollar uit, tegenover 279 biljoen euro (significant meer dan het dubbel, dus) door EU-lidstaten. Geld lijkt het probleem niet echt.

It's important to need to keep in mind that AI is literally making us dumber. Overreliance on these tools to make decisions undermines our future ability to think critically and make decisions for ourselves effectively. We *need* to continue to exercise our minds in order to retain our humanity.

Years ago, after the Cambridge Analytica scandal, I interviewed a former fb employee, and I remember her continually emphasizing that these tech bros weren't evil geniuses, but were, in fact, dangerous because they were utterly clueless, totally reckless, and had too much power.

Misschien moet @vrtnws-be.bsky.social de artikelen over de Trump-tariffs eens updaten met de toevoeging dat er vanuit Canada en Mexico blijkbaar niets is toegezegd dat al niet eerder was gezegd, en dat er dus kanttekeningen te plaatsen vallen bij het "succesvol zijn" van de tarievendreiging.

Most dictatorial grabs to power are somewhat obscured by language barriers, lack of contemporary sources (Hungary, Russia), and/or only clear through historical hindsight (30s nazi-Germany). But this one is widely documented by @hcrichardson.bsky.social and others. "I had no idea" will not cut it.
