"AI is such a pressing labor issue in creative fields because so many of us know that generative AI is bad at doing our jobs." - @maris.bsky.social lithub.com/you-see-gene...

"Even seventh graders can see artificial intelligence is a lesser form of care and attention." Wow. #EduSky www.nytimes.com/2025/05/14/o...

How can readers believe anything published in the @chicago.suntimes.com after this?

We spoke to the person who used AI to generate the Chicago Sun-Times' "Best of Summer" reading list. It contains real authors and fake books. “On me 100 percent and I'm completely embarrassed.” www.404media.co/chicago-sun-...

They need to update those funny little ads about the dumb guy at work relying on AI to show him being escorted from the building with a box full of belongings.

Please do not use generative AI to mimic historic figures. #EduSky www.criticalinkling.com/p/generative...

Teachers should watch Kate Cassidy's video on the effects of generative AI on the internet as an information ecosystem. #EduSky youtu.be/3dstGVhEshU?...

“Gen AI does NOT help disabled people. Quit using disabled people as a shield. Implying that disabled people cannot think and create themselves is disgustingly ableist. Gen AI is actually very dangerous.” www.vice.com/en/article/p... newatlas.com/technology/a...

This is a very good post by Dr. Erin Rose Glass about ChatGPT's effect on the brain. It is worth reading, especially for teachers. #EduSky supercyberlicious.substack.com/p/this-is-yo...

"Scathing reviews on Rate My Professors." Using generative AI in your practice risks generating this kind of response. Why would a student bother writing something their teacher or professor won't read? #EduSky

"After a second professor appeared to use ChatGPT to give her feedback, Marie transferred to another university." Generative AI is not a student-feedback tool. Good for Marie. #EduSky

Now it's the professors using ChatGPT. Students aren't happy about it. I talked to professors. I talked to students. I read the scathing reviews on Rate My Professors. Here you go: www.nytimes.com/2025/05/14/t...

Good—students *should* shame professors for using AI to shortcut their jobs! Everyone stop using a technology that degrades your social value ok??!

From the Copyright Office: "Nor do we agree that AI training is inherently transformative because it is like human learning.271 To begin with, the analogy rests on a faulty premise, as fair use does not excuse all human acts done for the purpose of learning..." #TLsky #edusky

“Using AI to brainstorm” means students are sometimes writing about ideas they never had…

I did a search for the opening line of Tale of Two Cities on Google and this popped up immediately. Super cool what this technology is doing to education right now. A1 stuff.

Today is the 40th anniversary of the MOVE bombing in Philadelphia. In case you thought the horrors were over, the Inquirer just published an investigative report on Penn's mistreatment of the remains of the children who died in the blast. www.inquirer.com/news/philade...

If I'm Cooper Flagg, I'm seeing what Duke can pay me and if one of the big March Madness sponsors is willing to back up the Brinks truck for some ads in next year's NCAA tournament.

this may be the one way I think schools should run like a business

What is the most detailed discussion by someone who argues that AI will usher in an unprecedented age of "human flourishing" that actually provides evidence of what this flourishing would look like?

Are PK-12 schools doing students a disservice by promoting generative AI usage? #EduSky

A new Coke ad proudly features a quote from a J.G. Ballard book, only he didn’t write the words and it’s not his book. www.404media.co/ai-powered-c...

Yeah but what about all the times it didn’t produce dangerous results.

Asking a big oak tree has as much merit as asking ChatGPT. Or, as @emilymbender.bsky.social said, asking a Magic 8 Ball for all the connection to reality ChatGPT has. #EduSky

“I asked ChatGPT-“ okay well I asked the big oak tree at the center of the woods and she said you’re a lazy dork

I went to a private Waldorf high school in the 2000s that was filled with the children of tech professionals - who explicitly wanted a lower-tech education for them. Many tech execs believe in careful exposure to tech for their kids, while also thinking AI teaching is fine for the great unwashed.

A social sciences and humanities reading list on AI in education 🧵

The best students do this instead of using AI.

We need to consider how frequent interaction with chatbots can affect children. #EduSky www.criticalinkling.com/p/generative...

I see so much excitement about generative AI in educational technology circles. What I don't see often is talk about its harms and limits, or acknowledgement of it's deep unpopularity. #EduSky
