Karl-Anthony Towns is the first year of a four-year, $220 million extension. He will earn: $53 million in 2025-26 $57 million in 2026-27 and $61 million in 2027-28 That is a guaranteed contract. The largest in Knicks franchise history. NY is on the hook whether he is healthy or not.

Per game average this month: The Celtics are averaging: 18.9 made three-pointers on 47.9 attempts (39.4%) The Knicks are averaging: 9.8 made three-pointers on 28.8 attempts (33.9%) That's a math problem.

The Knicks are listing Josh Hart and OG Anunoby as QUESTIONABLE for Sunday's game vs. the Celtics. Both Hart and OG traveled to Boston with the team. Mitchell Robinson has been ruled out

MSG Networks and Optimum announce they have reached an agreement

While there are undeniable X-and-O / structural issues plaguing New York on the defensive end, arguably the most alarming aspect of Friday's defeat was the Knicks' lack of competitive effort.

New Words: Embarrassment Before last night, the last time the Knicks lost by more than 35 points was Dec 5, 2019... The next day, head coach David Fizdale was fired. tommybeer.substack.com/p/embarrassm...

Before last night, the last time the Knicks lost by more than 36 points was a 129-92 defeat at home to the Denver Nuggets on December 5th, 2019.

Per NBA Player Tracking analysis: Evan Mobley, Jarrett Allen and Donovan Mitchell were a combined 11-for-11 (100%) when defended primarily by Karl-Anthony Towns last night. Not pretty.

New York ranks 28th in the NBA in Defensive Efficiency in February, allowing a whopping 122.3 points per 100 possessions. They are giving up 58 points in the paint per game (second most in the NBA).

The Knicks have played the Cavs, Celtics and Thunder six times this season. They are 0-6 and have been outscored outscored by 128 points.

Knicks officially announce OG will start tonight. Precious will remain in the starting lineup with Hart out. Brunson, Bridges, Anunoby, Achiuwa, Towns is the starting 5 (I would have preferred they went with Deuce)

The Knicks have ruled Josh Hart OUT for tonight’s game vs. Cleveland. OG Anunoby is listed as questionable

Timeline of the OG Anunoby injury:

New Words: Knicks Escape Thanks to Bridges Block, KAT Buckets and Deuce Doing Everything (FYI: Today's post is free/unlocked for all) tommybeer.substack.com/p/knicks-esc...

Per NBA tracking data, KAT spent nearly as much as a primary defender on Matas Buzelis as he did on Vooch last night. Towns also defended Ayo Dosunmu and Julian Phillips on more than 10 possessions each.

As of two weeks ago, no player in Knicks franchise history had tallied more than 35 points, more than 12 rebounds, more than 3 treys and multiple steals in a game. During Knicks' current three-game winning streak, KAT is averaging: 38.7 points, 13.3 rebounds, 4.0 made 3PTs, 2.3 steals. AVERAGING

BTW, last night was not an anomaly. Over his last ten career starts, Deuce McBride is averaging: 19.3 points, 3.3 assists (vs. 0.7 turnovers), 3.2 rebounds, 1.5 steals and 4.0 made three-pointers while shooting 43.9% from downtown.

Most 40-point games as a teenager in NBA history: 1. LeBron James (3) 2. Anthony Edwards (2) Most 40-point games as a 40-year-old in NBA history: 1. LeBron James (2) 2. Michael Jordan (1) #AppreciateGreatness

Complete list of all players in the NBA this season with more than 100 assists, more than 50 made three-pointers and 30 or fewer turnovers: Deuce McBride -- end of list --

Deuce McBride made his first start of the season last night. And he became the first player in the NBA this season to tally at least five three-pointers, three steals, three blocks and three assists in a single game.

OG going from a true game-time decision nine days ago to being ruled out the first game after the All-Star break is… maybe not great

OG Anunoby has been ruled out tonight, joining Josh Hart Deuce McBride and Precious Achiuwa will start.

far easier to become a mythical icon in the 80's - before the advent of social media

Pacome Dadiet has upgraded to available tonight... potentially notable with Josh Hart (knee) sidelined

On the shit show that was the all-star game

New Words: Back At It If Josh Hart is also forced to sit out Friday in Cleveland, then this message will self-destruct, and we can start officially getting anxious about the health of his knee... tommybeer.substack.com/p/back-at-it

Timeline refresher👇

Most offensive rebounds over the first 20 games of the 2023-24 NBA season: 1. Mitchell Robinson: 107 2. Clint Capela: 87 3. Anthony Davis: 75 4. Mark Williams: 74 5. Rudy Gobert: 69 6. Domantas Sabonis: 65 7. Nikola Jokic: 65

Mitchell Robinson is one of only five players in NBA history to average more than 3.5 blocks and more than 1.5 steals per 100 possessions for their careers. The other four players are David Robinson, Robert Williams, Hakeem Olajuwon and Marcus Camby.

How it started //// How it’s going

“We don’t care about your missed shots. Play f*cking defense.” -Rick Pitino

If a person from another planet watched those 3 hours last night - would they think the NBA was more focused/concerned about the future comedy career of Kevin Hart or the future basketball career of Victor Wembanyama?

Kevin Hart, Chuck and Shaq getting 100x more airtime than Jalen Brunson and Cade Cunningham on All-Star Sunday night … speaks volumes about how badly the NBA markets their product

What an absolute joke… Going forward, with the new TV contract kicking in, there needs to be an alternative feed for each nationally televised game where fans that actually the enjoy the NBA and love watching games can go for informed insight and analysis before, during and after each contest.
