#penistone, #sheffield, #landscape, #art, #light, #water, #PeakDistrict, #UK, #porter, #Langsett, #Peak, #District Yet another image in my "Square Langsett" posts - this is the Porter. Water can do a lot to stone over the years.

Well well well... Never mind Anslem, Kant and the Ontological argument. Kapow... I'm currently reading Fry's "Paperweight". I'm in good company.

#penistone, #sheffield, #landscape, #art, #light, #water, #PeakDistrict, #UK, #porter, #Langsett, #Peak, #District Another image in my "Square Langsett" posts, spotted near Swinden Barn. Carlo Rovelli thinks that time may not be a fundamental feature of the universe. I think it's a pretty clock.

Grace Bowers eh? What a player - and the intergenerational aspect of the line up is inspiring. I shall keep practising.

#penistone, #sheffield, #landscape, #art, #light, #water, #PeakDistrict, #UK, #porter, #Langsett, #Peak, #District Even more squares from Langsett. Stone and water.

#penistone, #sheffield, #landscape, #art, #light, #water, #PeakDistrict, #UK, #snow Langsett Reservoir - again. A few years ago it was an easy walk from my house to the view point. Now it's harder. ( #Langsett in the #Peak #District). Same square format, I think I like squares.

#penistone, #sheffield, #landscape, #art, #light, #water, #PeakDistrict, #UK Same reservoir as my last picture post ( #Langsett in the #Peak #District). Same square format, still virtually abstract and yet completely different.

Worth reading. The references to Levellers, Diggers, Quakers, and romanticism (Blake) make this a particularly English commentary on class. We could ponder these points in the light of the rise of reactionary rhetoric in the UK.

#penistone, #sheffield, #landscape, #art, #light, #water, #PeakDistrict Here's a picture that is almost abstract in form, Langsett Reservoir in the Peak District - UK.

#art,#photography, #Penistone, #Yorkshire, #history, #climatechange Here's a view of technology, society, and wealth from the edge of the Peak District - from a wind turbine farm, to cows, sheep, the SYorks coalfield, and over to the coal fired power stations of Drax. Battles were fought.

Go on then, read this - you'll find it informative and it'll give you confidence to acknowledge that migration has been a constant in the affairs of humanity ever since our ancestors explored trhe world beyond the Rift Valley.

Another in the occasional picture series. 2011 - Madrid. "I cannot be the woman in your life, I'm the woman in my life". It means more now - my granddaughter taught me that. #madrid, #Photography, #Street, #Graffitti, #Feminism, #EU

This is as I think music should be. Not a passive consumption but being part of it, joining in, having a go. It's life affirming, uplifting, and just good.

More from the world of knitting and wool. The picture is titled "Collateral Damage". Gaza springs to mind amongst other conflicts. It's a plea from me to reexamine the validity of universal rights. #wool, #art, #photography, #knitting, #UnitedNations

#Sheffield #Street #Photography 1969 to about 2019. It was good while it lasted. Books and records, remember them? Nostalgia eh?

An evocative story, worth a read if you want a flavour of 1984 in the UK.

Climate change demo: Sheffield 2019. #climate #change #art #photography The latest in an occasional series of uploads. The Great Extinction.

Reform UK leader Nigel Farage says the public want to leave the ECHR Let him know he’s wrong by sharing this widely

#photography #labour #politics #UK This photograph was taken in London in 2009. I had promised myself I would shut up about such divisions and that winning the recent GE was the important thing. Anyway, that was then.

@kenanmalik.bsky.social Kenan Malik nails the problem of identity. To paraphrase: "As a [insert identity here] I claim privilege for my views. www.theguardian.com/commentisfre...

Yes, I agree that PR would be an improvement over the UK's first past the post system. The question is what sort of PR and would it neccessarily be the same system for National and Local elections?

Quick reminder that NHS staff were treated terribly by the Conservative government for 14 years and kept the NHS going throughout that entire period. They are *definitely* not to blame for problems in the NHS, no matter what the media is saying! 🌟

#bunny #knitting #textiles #photography The bunnies escaped uneaten. I had to wait 18 years until various grandchildren and assorted younger people grew up before I was allowed to publicise this.

That's wonderful, much better than seeing the face of God in my toast.
