@wotcmatt.bsky.social Random question for you: would referring to “keyword” on a card (as in, “Destroy target creature with no keywords.”) function within the existing rules, or would you have to add something to make it work? Cheers!

"Second Main Phase, cast Return of the Wildspeaker, draw 10,000 cards, GG"

Hey! I've got a lot of Monster Hunter content cooking over the next couple of weeks, but here's my first. Wrote about why you should play Monster Hunter World ahead of Wilds, especially if you're new to the series. Also, my first non-guides byline for IGN!

It begins! @imdanielholt.bsky.social and I did an interview with Tom over at IGN talking about the four #MTGxFinalFantasy commander decks we’ve been cooking up. This project is a dream come true, and we want to hear what you’re excited about! #WOTCStaff

IT'S HERE! 😬 Check out this interview with Tom over at IGN covering the four #MTGxFinalFantasy decks that I've been leading the game design for the past few years! ❤️ #WOTCStaff Which deck are you most excited for? What characters do you hope to see in the 99? 👀

SUPER excited to say I get to exclusively reveal the very first cards for #MTGxFINALFANTASY We’ve got a first look at all four precon Commanders, as well as a chat with @imdanielholt.bsky.social and @dilloniusrex.bsky.social about the thought process behind them! www.ign.com/articles/mag...

I reviewed Synduality: Echo of Ada for @ign.com. It can be a bit of a grind, but to misquote Hemingway: "There is no hunting like the hunting of mechs, and those who have hunted armed mechs long enough and liked it, never care for anything else thereafter.” www.ign.com/articles/syn...

Small potatoes in the scheme of things, but I started a big game review with a tight turnaround yesterday… and then the PSN died and I literally can’t play more until it’s back 😬

Seeing some funny revisionism with the history of Civ reviews, folk claiming they always score low but are still loved by fans at launch. Metacritic for Civ 6 was 88, 5 was 90, 4 was 94. It's the community that then generally compares them unfavorably to the previous game until expansions arrive.

HUGE shoutout to @len.bsky.social, who spent the last month reviewing Civilization 7 AND Kingdom Come: Deliverance 2! We had healthy lead times with both (thanks Warhorse and Firaxis!) and she wanted to take on the challenge. Killed it. 🌍: www.ign.com/articles/civ... ⚔️: www.ign.com/articles/kin...

Reviewathon 2025. First up, Civilization 7 is... alright. I think it would be a little bit out of pocket to say that it feels kind of like when we used to get a separate, stripped down Wii version of like, the Spider-Man movie game. But only a little bit. www.ign.com/articles/civ...

I reviewed Rift of the Necrodancer for @ign.com Check out my first review of the year: youtu.be/_Mh2zZkxAX8?... Big thanks to @tomrmarks.bsky.social for the edits, @jurassicrabbit.bsky.social for reading my words so nicely, and Pat Coughlin for cutting the video review (:

Writing about my favorite action game series is always a treat, and I loved doing it for IGN, even if it meant mainlining NG2B all weekend and destroying my sleep schedule. I've adored Ninja Gaiden since I played the first level of the '04 release on an OXM demo disk and I am so happy it's back.

new review time! for IGN, I covered The Stone of Madness, a gorgeous stealth game with an intriguing setting. it's got some great ideas, but I ran into more than a few technical issues that held back the flow of its great escape. more here: www.ign.com/articles/the...

To folk saying I should patent/Kickstart this: I appreciate the sentiment and enthusiasm, but I am a big believer in not making all your hobbies side hustles! I’ll likely post the print file once I refine it, but I’m not really interested in turning a thing I’m creatively excited about into a gig.

I invented a thing! A few months ago I built a Magic: The Gathering deck that rolls a lot of dice, and I had a weird idea for a custom box for it. So I made a cardboard prototype… then taught myself CAD… and then bought a 3D printer. And v1 is finally done! Introducing, my dice tower deck box:

I got to reveal two new cards from #MTGAetherdrift this morning! Boros scrying and a monored card advantage engine! Cats and dogs living together! Mass hysteria! Full reveal article here: www.ign.com/articles/mag...

Help me settle another debate: When does a RogueLIKE become a RogueLITE? 1) If you can unlock things that make you stronger on future runs (more health, damage, lives, etc.) 2) If you can unlock anything at all, even if it doesn’t necessarily make runs easier (new characters, items, decks, etc.)

In two hours, we will be live @ www.twitch.tv/edgarallanbro7 to raise money for LA wildfire relief! First up: Tekken, featuring: @alahftel.bsky.social @blessingjr.bsky.social @johnnychugs.bsky.social @murph04.bsky.social @jurassicrabbit.bsky.social @sonicmj1.bsky.social @silvurcross.bsky.social!

Not to be anti-fun or whatever, but I don't think the Switch 2 needs a gimmick this time around. www.ign.com/articles/nin...

A few highlights from today's AMA. We're still fielding questions as they come in, though maybe not as immediately.

Fun idea and though I don’t oversee reviews for GameSpot, pretty much everything I can speak to firsthand, I would do so by echoing what they’ve said here. It rings true for me too.

This went great! A lot of good questions and probably-too-detailed answers in there for folk to peruse if you want a peek behind the curtain. I’ll still be answering lingering questions as they come in, but I am also just always happy to answer folk here beyond that. Big fan of transparency!

We are doing our annual IGN reviews AMA on the Games subreddit today! @danstapleton.bsky.social, @jadarina.bsky.social, and I will be around all day to answer any questions folk have - come join! www.reddit.com/r/Games/comm...
