Tomorrow i am part of an interview process our CO and discuss which programmes we literally cant stop, otherwise children will die... We have to work out how to keep them going. Never thought it would come to this...

Big cuts looking at Save the Children International - I need a new job, i think😱

Anneliese Dodds demonstrating a strong and principled message. Starmer made a calculated move, trying to align with a shifting geopolitical landscape. The irony is that, he risks undermining the UK's long-term influence in international development, multilateral institutions, and security.

😩

SC UK have initiated their plans, at the SC international, we still await our fait. 😢

I still have my job today, but the fear of looming bad news is overwhelming. In these challenging times, I stand with my incredible colleagues at Save the Children and fellow NGOs. I have had the privilege this year of working with the colleagues in Gaza through this awful Israel led war.

20 years working across emergencies,I find myself, alongside my wife, staring at an uncertain future. Two senior professionals, a young son, two dogs, and no safety net. No assets, capital—just experience in a sector being gutted by the political choices of Trump, Starmer, and their ilk.

The global shift towards isolationism and austerity—led by Trump and disappointingly followed by Starmer—is gutting the very work I’ve spent my career building. Child protection, alternative care, don’t survive in a world that treats social systems as expendable. It’s frustrating and painful.

The combination of authoritarian politics and tech billionaires reshaping public discourse is genuinely alarming, especially when it directly impacts people doing essential, values-driven work. Reflecting on a personal level. Trumps 90 day orders will severely impact my family income.

headlines from a week ago as an incident near DCA appears to be the deadliest aviation disaster in the US since 9/11 www.huffpost.com/entry/trump-...

Glad to see UK take a proper position with Rwanda, rather than cosy deals, and insidious influence of PR/lobby firms, who pay the likes of Andrew Mitchell.

Rwanda provide a large amount of Peace Keepers for their PR machine, but here they are shooting at them. Don't forget to 'visit Rwanda'

this...Biden's legacy is not one based on 'economic' outlook.

This is a part of the 'aid' - its not just trucks and food etc, its the less tangible soft skills that also needs unfettered access and assurances of safety

🧵 1/ Save the Children reports the use of explosive weapons in Gaza during 2024 left “an average of 475 children each month – or 15 children a day – with potentially lifelong disabilities,” including the loss of limbs, sight, and hearing.

This is very good summary of Gaza aid situation with ceasefire - Simple summary: Israel need to give assurances of access and safety now- www.linkedin.com/posts/care_g...

“choose empathy and compassion. It will pay off immeasurably for you and those around you.” — Bridget Rhinehart link.medium.com/EseZcp9ejQb worth a read.

3 things about this message that greeted millions of Americans on TikTok today: 1) the shamelessness of Trump who just U-turned on his opposition to TikTok. 2) the shamelessness of these tech companies, sucking up to Trump. 3) the fecklessness of Biden who gave Trump this win.
