Ya but like where does it end? When the idiot mob finds their new target you'll be throwing out all your [say] Duracell AA batteries because the CEO went to Mar-a-lago 7 years ago, etc...

Docker: For when you really really want to build an application on random likely out of date non-standardized dependencies because you don't know how to actually program a computer.

it's clearly the first steps towards getting Doom finally on the Apple ][.

Ya my Bolt doesn't have that just dumb cruise control. My Volt had adaptive though it was our first taste of awesomeness. Out of the box Tesla cars have basic autopilot which does adaptive cruise and autosteering. Kinda hard to compete with the others which lack that or it's a subscription that

Ya really need to see first hand. For me though things like good app access, sat nav, and basic autopilot like features are kinda a must. In our Bolt we have to use android auto (when it works) and resort to.... ugh ... steering ourselves hehehe

Prior to mid-2024 I'd just say go with a Y. Today? No idea. I'd have to do more review watching and maybe a test drive or something.

Hmm, not overly no. The only time it's excessively noisy is when it's in defrost mode but like that's kinda to be expected. As for road noise not really. We listen to a lot of podcasts just fine.

FWIW as someone who spends a lot of time in my Model 3 ... it's fairly comfortable too.
comment in response to post
Ya ya it's not a Bolt EV (which I also own one of...) :-) Up until 2025 the Model 3 AWD was actually price and feature competitive in Canada I just checked now though holy fuck it's $68K + tax... A Polestar 2 + upgraded feature package is like (iirc) 5K cheaper now...

oh ya I'm with you. Dude you don't think us Tesla owners hate the rug pull he pulled? I'm legit worried he'll edgelord meme the car (and service) into oblivion. I'm only 3 years into what should be an 8-10 year car ownership cycle. Tesla owners are pissed off too.
comment in response to post
There's no included sat nav, and ya if you're ok with fewer features all the power to you. But don't pretend they're on equal footing. For ref, I use basic autopilot all the time in my Model 3. (as well as sat nav, the app which actually works, etc).

My family did a trip from Ottawa to Jacksonville FL last summer (our "end of America" tour) in our Model 3. No issues. Zero range anxiety, etc.
comment in response to post
It's $55K + Tax in Canada, the model Y is in the mid 60s. But the Y also comes with more complete software that also doesn't require a subscription to use.
comment in response to post
In Canada the average new car price in 2024 was about $7K more than a long range model 3. "not great" ... until you actually use the software. Sorry, but there's really no comparison.

So she sold cars that Tesla had no stake in ... so that other people can drive them around (presumably with your blessing) ... and this is accomplishing what? Hey George, if you want to cut me say $50,000 I'll go push my Model 3 in a ditch and light it on fire. Deal?
comment in response to post
You realize that /even now/ North American made EVs aren't really that competitive with Tesla right? I'm all for boycotting Tesla but the reality is people bought them because value for dollar they're better.

In 1921 (a couple of years before I was born), Ontario added high school to the public offering because it was realized back then that a grade 6 education didn't get you far in the then modern world. And then we did nothing else for 104 years.

3/ wires carrying current. In various tests people have found as much as 40 amps over a 16 AWG cable which is massively over the limit.
comment in response to post
2/ That design still sucks because in theory 1 of the pairs of wires in each phase could fail putting all the current on one of the wires in the phase (there are 2 per phase). In the 50xx FE cards they common all the power rails together so in theory you could power the card on with only 1 out of 6
comment in response to post
it's because their connector and power rails are crap. Long story short you have like 6 wires carrying around 5-10 amps. On previous cards they were connected to three power rails which had current shunts and would disable the card if any shunt was over the limit.

oh I don't transcode on the fly, when I torrent things I then do a transcode job (to main profile 4:2:0 yuv h264). I also run my dynamic gain compression on them so the volume is somewhat normalized so we don't have to keep playing with the volume :-)

I've got a pair of 22TB drives in RAID-0 for my movie/tv/etc storage. I also use it as my DHCP server since I don't like using the ISP provided gear for that (I also don't use their built in wifi...).
comment in response to post
2/ just point my desktop PC (which is my file/dhcp/ftp/http server) at it via HDMI and use that for kodi/netflix/etc.

Can you turn off the light sensor? Personally like I said I like dumb TVs. When they pack android/etc in it's almost always out of date by time it reaches Canadian shores and then you're stuck with outdated crap that sometimes can't even be used. I use a Google TV puck but if that fails i'd
comment in response to post
Bizarre. Some TVs have a "true black" mode which just turns off the backlight when the picture is black. It's annoying because "99% black" still has the backlight on so "black" is slightly grey and it looks like it's flashing. This sounds like something else though. Odd. I like dumb TVs :-)

Maybe not. If it's a burn in to the LCD layer maybe not. Replacing the boards only really help if the driver can't send enough voltage/current into the LEDs. The LEDs are usually in series meaning they run at 100+ volts DC. Either way I'd recommend setting the brightness a lot lower

2/ in means that also lack fiber, etc. kidney beans for instance have a ton of carbs. But the carbs are also packed with fiber and much harder to digest so you don't get the insulin hit as you would with say refined flour based products.

Thanks. Well the key thing is GLP-1's are /part/ of the solution. They enable me to fast and eat smaller portions without being sluggish or direly hungry all the time. Keep in mind a lot of fad diets kinda hit some truth. Like keto ... "carbs" aren't the enemy. It's simple refined sugars/carbs

CBC: "Let's talk about the merits of Trump's idiocy" vs CBC: "Let's talk about why Trump's idiocy is offensive to Canadians" See the difference? Apparently CBC does not.

Oh the damage is probably done. I meant in the future. It's crazy the power diff. My older 1080p 50" display went from like 130 Watts to 80 Watts when I lowered the brightness from the factory default to about 30% (and it was still plenty clear and vibrant). That's 50W of heat in the TV....
