I can only imagine that working in an embedded app has it's own set of challenges!! Much like the C/AL days. π¦

It's not a fight, just a passionate discussion! As a developer, we don't know all the ins and outs of the business processes, especially client specific use cases. We definitely wouldn't be as effective technically without the functional counterpart who is willing to take the time to tell the story.

I'm moving more into that role as well. What do you find most enjoyable about being the man in the middle? Is there anything you used to do that you miss?

You really are the jack of all trades! What do you enjoy more - writing PTEs to solve a very specific business process need, or writing an AppSource app where you have to be more generic to accommodate many use cases?

So do you do a lot of development leveraging the HTTPClient to make external API calls? It's definitely not something I would say most developers do on a regular basis!!
And I have a newer project that uses Fixed Assets! I'm excited to learn more about them + reporting as well!!

What @mynavblog.bsky.social said at DOK Americas really stuck with me - are you an AL Developer or a BC developer? To be a great AL Developer you need to understand the business logic. So being a Technical Consultant is really the best of both worlds!!

I would also agree that PTEs should stay as is. The partner I work for develops accelerators that we cannot list on AppSource for audit compliance reasons. We wouldn't want our accelerators available to everyone.

I can only imagine how well that would go over!
Time to find some more developers who can run code clean up!

I think you need to give as much time as possible. At least a year, because like @demiliani.bsky.social said, this is going to affect just about every app. So updates for every single PTE. Then theres the apps that clients don't have source code to cause someone else built it, and they moved on.

Did you get on a (construction) contractor list instead of a Business Central contractor list??

We have a client that started the trial almost 2 months ago. It's been working out really well for them!

Data Braider might be a great option. Or Simple Object Designer.

Now that you can implement multiple interfaces....that seems semi-plausible. Let us know how it goes!
