Also, this is a *perfect example* of the kind of bureaucratic layer that makes actually doing things in government sometimes hard! Do you a VA nurse spending her time providing health care or writing Elon an email about “What I Did Last Week”?

Running thread of people trying to normalize the sieg heil. It's not an "Elon gesture", it's not autism, it's not your heart going out, it's not parody or trolling. It's fucking despicable. Don't ever let this shit become normal. Fuck any excuse given, there is none. Zero tolerance. 1. Elon Musk

“That is why Trumpists are so focused on “ending DEI” in the federal workforce. They see anti-discrimination and inclusion as a ladder of upward mobility for people they do not believe should have one.”

its amazing the way conservative arguments fall completely apart in court when there are actually penalties for lying

This is so many words to say Trump fired the chairman of the joint chiefs because he’s black www.nytimes.com/2025/02/21/u...

Sometimes I think about how Trump could have just become President and done nothing and it would have been fine. No dumb tariffs or destruction of the government. Just lots of bluster and pretend things are good because he talked tough. Yet, here we are.

Just look at these paragraphs from the AP story. Hegseth called Brown unqualified solely because he's Black. Then they fired him... and replaced him with a white guy so indisputably unqualified that he requires a Presidential waiver. This is what "merit" means to them. apnews.com/article/trum...

Good to see the temporary workers reinstated who are all folks like this: “I make just over $40,000 a year; scrape s— off toilets with a putty knife nearly every day,” Chmura wrote. “Somehow, I’m the target.”

Things hurting the US economy: -mass layoffs of federal workers -funding cuts to every federal dept -corporate layoffs -measles and tuberculosis outbreaks -high flu rates -$8/dozen eggs -new tariffs raising the cost of everything -Canada boycotts US travel and goods -concerns about airplane safety

Being trans isn't weird. You know what's weird? Hating trans people is weird. Just let people live their lives.

Read the real stories about what USAID cuts mean, not the Musk propaganda www.nytimes.com/2025/02/21/o...

It's like Donald Trump is trying to destroy American greatness.

“For the past 25 years, the Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) has helped develop building codes, the construction standards that help houses survive hurricanes, wildfires and earthquakes. Now, the Trump Administration has ordered that to stop, according to people involved with the work.”

The only reason these people are "helpless" is that they're afraid to do anything that will end their precious political careers. They could help save the country and then return to the private sector, but they're ambitious, so they'll watch the country burn.

This is horrible. Yet again.

“I am a king and my will is law” isn’t a clever distraction from what he’s doing, it’s the central underlying justification for everything he’s doing.

Again: no evidence of this. They’re indiscriminately firing probationary employees. No specific rationales given.

Thanks to the GOP, the suspended funds are already causing immeasurable suffering and deaths around the world.

is this bad?

repeating myself a bit here but trump can issue an executive order but that doesn’t necessarily mean shit if it doesn’t have a firm statutory basis. if congress lays out in law what the duties of a particular official are, then no, the president can’t decide those duties are something else

BREAKING — USDA says it accidentally fired officials working to combat bird flu and says it’s trying to rehire them www.nbcnews.com/politics/dog... by @allansmith.bsky.social

Fox News host John Roberts: "If you're gonna trust anybody with rooting out waste, fraud, and abuse, wouldn't you want it to be a guy who really doesn't need your money?" (Rich people, famous for not wanting more money ... )

That's not a law!

Many people are asking why RFK Jr. talked about the sperm count of young boys in his opening address to HHS and I do not have a good answer for that.

Jesus christ, was I giving him ideas?

I get frustrated by takes like this. Democrats in 2009 had many conservative Senators. Plus, passing major positive legislation is much different than stopping what is happening from the administration. It's apples to oranges.

Here's the thing: If Republicans really believe this, then why don't they just do it since they are in charge? And if Dems do really feel like this (they don't) why wouldn't they have pushed for actual blanket amnesty and citizenship for immigrants? It is vile nonsense.

Trump's policies are about who gets to exist in public life and attempting to legally exclude or intimidate people out of it. www.nytimes.com/2025/01/30/u...

The U.S. population has grown by 57% in the last 50 years, but the federal workforce has only increased by 6%. That means fewer workers handling more services, while billionaires scream for cuts. This isn’t about efficiency. It’s about sabotage. Fight back: go.savepublicservices.com

Musk and his army of dipshits on Twitter keep pointing to Bill Clinton’s federal worker reduction in the 1990s to defend Trump. The difference? Congress passed a law that Clinton signed, he didn’t just get the nearest billionaire to illegally start dismantling the government based on his whims.

Musk now calling for people at 60 Minutes to go to prison.

Let’s see what motivates this guy to join DOG…oh

This SNL 50 special feels like a series finale for America.

You cannot determine whether you saved or cost money based solely on one side of the ledger. Example: I saved my household $2K by not paying the mortgage.

Lmao

Trump people when they hear about a single trans person wanting to just live a peaceful life.

It is weird how conservatives act all tough but are so scared by the mere existence of trans people. It is like Homer Simpson being afraid of sock puppets.

?? It’s no mystery where the money goes; this has been asked and answered. 70-75% of US spending is on Social Security, Medicare/Medicaid, Pentagon and veterans + interest on the debt. Foreign aid is 1% of the budget. You can read this in a CBO or OMB report! Easily available.

"ICE arrests have sagged so far this month ... declining from about 800 per day in late January ... to fewer than 600 during the first 13 days of February. The administration has stopped publishing daily numbers..." www.washingtonpost.com/immigration/...

It’s telling that the people in charge of this country venerate a bunch of losers—Napoleon, Robert E Lee, Hitler—rather than the actual winners who defeated them—e.g. Wellington, Grant, and Eisenhower

A message from a federal worker in Veterans Affairs: Who’s gonna take care of the hundreds of thousands of veterans if the administration is successful in its reduction in force?

the federal government is explicitly acting as if jim crow is the law!
