Don't attribute to malice that which can be explained by incompetence.

Maybe the bad guys need to be forced to replace what they've broken under penalty of some large, vertically-sliding, shiny device.

As soon as I hear/read someone say, "Do your own research!" I assume they're eating horse paste for no good reason.

There has always been 1/4 of this country so stupid, servile, or craven that they would accept anything the government does as long as it's ruled by the right wing.

It's probably easier to simply take over the Democratic Party from the inside, as MAGA has done to the Republican Party (and as the Tea Party did before MAGA).

I thought it was laziness and ignorance at first, too. But I'm now convinced nonvoters are quietly okay with authoritarianism. And people like Paul Weiss who "capitulate" are doing so because they want what's happening to happen.

Oh, but we're supposed to compromise and meet Republicans in the middle. Even though they demonize anyone to the left of Mike "The Johnson" Johnson.

I love how the left/Democrats has to compromise and live and let live, but the right can just keep pushing without that burden. I do wonder how the American Revolution happened at all, considering that "loyalists" were the majority back then.

Maybe Schumer was right and we have to wait for a popular uprising? I just don't see that happening. Well, suffering it is, then!

That's true, I did ignore that. We'll have to see what the SC does. I don't see them throwing away all their power, but who knows at this point.

I did, and they were very effective in relating their messages. And you're correct, that won't stop Trump or his insane appointees (and Musk).
Maybe Trump really is what the majority of the US wants and I should just accept that.

And if we don't have a representative federal government (and some states as well), how and why are the citizens bound by its laws any longer? /2
comment in response to

I do accept those things as the current reality, but I don't believe there's no way for our elected representatives to fight. But if there is nothing to be done, then we no longer have a representative government (however nominal it was prior to this moment). /1

They could also replace their moribund leadership with people who are getting results (or at least getting popular support). There has to be more, of course. /2

I don't pretend to be an expert, so I doubt that I can come up with a list of actions that would satisfy you. But they definitely could stop voting to confirm nominees. They definitely shouldn't be censuring their own members for protesting inside the chamber (such as during the recent SOTU). /1

And yet somehow, during the ACA fight when Dems held Congress and the White House, the Republicans managed to fend off the public option and turn the ACA into a mess. It's almost as if a lot of Democratic lawmakers are addicted to powerlessness.

Yeah, apparently they wrote the final few episodes of season 5 at the same time they wrote season 1. The article included a direct quote saying, "We don't want to be another Lost," haha

They have it mapped out for 5 seasons, from what I've read.
