@bourgwick Spring 85 show 3 for me. Sun night & had to head back to PA for class on Mon am. Only show I ever saw in Springfield Civic, nice venue from what I remember. The spot where we lined up for GA overlooked the artist entrance. Saw Garcia arrive in limo, had a big smile when he got out and […]

@bourgwick I made this Hampton road trip with one of my best friends, Chris who was a college classmate. We attended many shows together but this trip was just the two of us. We drove down in my 74 Caddy. The venue let us stay in the lot, so we just car camped in the big boat. I still remember […]

@bourgwick Spring 85 night 2 for me. This show flies under the radar, but for me this is one of the best shows that I attended. Great Stranger/Cold Rain. The Scarlet/Bucket was so fun and surprising. Phil dropped a perfectly timed bomb at the climax of a great Terrapin. Great Spanish Jam out of […]

@bourgwick Was there! This tour was the peak for me. I purchased the tour book and ended up attending ten of the fourteen shows, while managing not to miss too many classes at college. Had some serendipitous luck from the NCAA hoops tourney. All of the shows were general admission except for […]

@WeirdWriter I have been looking at other instances for this reason. I dislike having to break large content into multiple posts and I really dislike when other users attach an image that is a screenshot with just text.

“This is someone who seeks mediated resolutions through speech and dialogue,” he said. “This is not someone who engages in violence, or gets people riled up to do dangerous things. So it’s really disturbing to see that kind of misrepresentation of him.”

When we took a tour of Congress Hall in Philadelphia, we sat in the room where this ceremony took place. The park ranger told us that the crowd that Adams described came to see if this peaceful transition of power would indeed, really take place. A novelty, indeed!
We should not take for […]

In a letter to his wife the next day, Adams wrote:
"In the Chamber of the House of Representatives, was a Multitude as great as the Space could contain, and I believe Scarcely a dry Eye but Washingtons. The Sight of the Sun Setting full orbut and another rising tho less Splendid, was a novelty […]

@phocks The Good Good Pig by Sy Montgomery is excellent! Non-fiction and not a children's book per se. My daughter read it when she was nine. I read it after her and I thought it was amazing. You could probably pre-read and edit out some parts.

@Tharpa I stumbled across your post. I am sorry for your predicament. How did it happen that you and her went your separate ways? What happened? That you shared something wonderful and then both ended up lonely and loveless seems quite tragic.

@AkaSci Thank you for sharing the link to the goodreads source! This is one of my very favorite written passages. It is indeed humbling to really contemplate the size and scope of the universe and our tiny planet's insignificance.

@BeAware Thank you for this response. This makes a lot of sense and is consistent with what I am seeing. It looks like the Fediverse icon only appear on the threads app and not on the web version of threads.

@jsit @rossgrady I purchased this album on vinyl directly from Blue Note during their Black Friday sale. Great album!

@shlenny I moved to a different state than where my parents lived, so I was not there to deal with a lot of the nitty gritty. I did drive down and take some things for our house and for keepsakes. I believe the remaining content of my Mom's house was handled by an estate sale and unfortunately […]
