Highlight of this week - a sun drenched evening in Tre-boeth. Thanks to everyone for the chats and the casework

A pleasure to welcome students from @uwtsd.bsky.social to Parliament yesterday.

ICMYI - how the UK Government is going to help people bring together their small pension pots in the South Wales Evening Post.

Pensions chat alert 🚨 Pleasure to talk at length to @paullewismoney.bsky.social for today’s @moneybox.bsky.social We’re building a pensions system that delivers less hassle and better returns for savers www.bbc.co.uk/sounds/play/...

Never mind the London marathon - the big run (or walk) of the weekend saw 600 people at Swansea parkrun. If you’re a regular remember it’s Tunes On The Bay next weekend so you can have a lie in.

Who's been to Darkside Cafe on Park Street? I highly recommend their Fight Club. To be clear - that's their turkey sandwich, not an underground brawling group... 🥪

Up in a sunny Runcorn today supporting Labour's excellent candidate - @cllrkarenshore.bsky.social - alongside @karinsmythmp.bsky.social, @simonforstroud.bsky.social and @johnslingermp.bsky.social 🌤️

Pleasure to visit the Universities Superannuation Scheme (the UK’s biggest private sector pension scheme) in a ludicrously lovely Liverpool today. Only total cynics think it’s not always like this in Merseyside

I’ve never had a kindle but my partner’s a convert. If you’re one too here’s a public service announcement that there’s just one week of an ebook bargain left 👇 bit.ly/42ooKs6

The good news: far more people are now saving into a pension. The less good news: LOADS of small pension pots for those moving employer regularly. By loads I mean 13 million of these small pots, holding £1,000 or less. And that’s increasing by around one million a year 🤯

Following the passing of Pope Francis, I want to send my condolences to Swansea's Catholic community. Pope Francis will be remembered by his kindness and devotion. I hope his compassion for others and work to achieve a better future continues to inspire. May he rest in peace.

Easter's no time for hearing from politicians. So I'm keeping it short today 👇

Investment and construction are happening in Port Talbot. Just yesterday, contractors were announced to build key new parts of the site as it transitions to an electric furnace. 👉 www.walesonline.co.uk/news/wales-n...

I'm really pleased to be supporting the Blaen-y-maes drop in centre's Easter egg hunt being held tomorrow 12pm-2pm 🐰🌸🐣

The shocking treatment of FirstPort residents is frontpage news today, following the public meeting I organised last week in Swansea. I’m really pleased to see the South Wales Evening Post giving this situation the attention it deserves, and want to thank those who shared their experiences.

Labour promised that we would deliver for steel communities and we are doing just that. My message to constituents👇

Over 200 people sent a clear message to FirstPort last night: they’ve had enough of soaring bills and shoddy service. I’m really pleased to have made this meeting happen for Swansea residents. It was about time the company came face to face with the people it has failed.

An innocent lunch at Swansea Market has sparked quite the debate today... corned beef or steak slice? Let me know which you'd pick 👇

It was a privilege to speak to carers this morning at the @carerswales.bsky.social Roadshow in Swansea. If you care for a loved one and could do with some extra support, Carers Wales provide expert information, advice and community support. Find out more at: carersuk.org/wales/

This is a massive opportunity for Swansea and South Wales. Success would bring thousands of jobs, billions of pounds of investment, and real long-term benefits for our communities - exactly the kind of future we should be working towards. www.bbc.co.uk/news/article...

Rescuing the NHS and raising the state pension: the government's priorities to give all pensioners the dignity they deserve in retirement. Those who have worked hard throughout their lives, paying into the system are owed nothing less. Read more here 👇 www.express.co.uk/news/politic...

A well sun-baked campaign team in Manselton today - thanks to everyone that made the time to talk (parking far and away the most raised issue), or to come to my surgery at Swansea Library yesterday

Accessible local banking services are vital to businesses and families. Great to visit Barclays' Swansea branch on Oxford Street this morning to discuss their community and regeneration initiatives, and hear about the services Barclays provide to 1 in 4 Swansea West businesses.

A pleasure to set out the Government's priorities for pensions to a room full of people as enthusiastic about the issue as I am. Thank you to @tuc.org.uk for hosting me and what I'm sure will be many important conversations at today's pension conference.

This week, thousands of people in Swansea will have more money in their pockets because the state pension and National Living Wage are going up. No one's pretending the cost of living is now solved. But we're on the right track 👇

Managed to combine getting cold hands and a moderately sunburnt face in Townhill this morning

Lovely views of the seafront from today's parkrun. Anyone manage a PB this week?

Thanks to everyone who came along to my most recent coffee morning in Swansea. Politics isn't always great, especially when it's done online. So I'm pleased people found our old fashioned, 3D discussions a positive experience.

Congratulations to @swanseauni.bsky.social maths PhD student Xavier Crean on presenting his research to MPs yesterday as part of the STEM for Britain competition final. It’s great to see the cutting-edge research being developed in Swansea receive some of the recognition it deserves.

Great to visit Burlais Primary School in Cwmbwrla last week and see staff working hard to create a safe and supportive learning environment for local children. Highlights included a fantastic performance of the Shwmae song from the reception class. 💫

Head over to Swansea arena this International Women's Day and you'll find a plaque the council have just unveiled in honour of our own Amy Dillwyn. Born in Sketty, Amy was one of the few, women industrialists of the 19th century as well as a novelist and campaigner.

One thing the pensions industry has a lot of is… conferences. A busy morning yesterday setting out this government’s vision for reforming the UK’s pension landscape. Delighted to speak to the Eversheds Sutherland Annual Pensions Conference, and an event convened by NatWest Cushon at Mansion House.

📢 Last chance to register! We're hosting an online webinar TOMORROW for people interested in the think tank sector, aimed particularly at those from under-represented groups. Find out more and sign up here👇 buff.ly/3CYMwky

Slowly but surely we will change the picture.
