Fancy some half term arty fun? Well, THIS FRIDAY at 10am I'll be posting a brand new episode of #DrawWithRob in which I'll show you how to draw a very cute... OTTER 🦦! See you by the riverbank...

A friend of mine suggested I should donate to charity any book that had been on my TBR pile longer than 12 months, and I laughed and laughed and now we are no longer friends

My latest article for @neunion.bsky.social Educate magazine is about non-fiction. It's often overlooked when talking about reading in the classroom and it shouldn't be. An exciting non-fiction text can engage readers just as well as any other. @michaelrosenyes.bsky.social @teresacremin.bsky.social

I think everyone who works in a primary school accepts that the curriculum is overloaded. We simply can't squeeze in everything that we're supposed to. However, there are two things that we must ensure take place each day: class storytime and independent reading. They're far too important to drop.

For anyone who's read VARJAK PAW and wants to know how it was written - or anyone interested in the #writing process - here's a free resource I made for the British Library, sharing pages from 7 different drafts. You can have a lot of fun showing this to a class! www.sfsaid.com/2024/06/the-...

Tonight! 7.30 Do join us for FREE Poetry CPD! A rapid magazine style event packed with texts and practice @rcharlesworth.bsky.social with πŸ‘Laura Mucha! πŸ‘ Fun festive and practical! www.eventbrite.co.uk/e/ou-rfp-new... @debrakidd.bsky.social @edfinch.bsky.social @jonnybid.bsky.social

Happy Disability Day! My next book, I WANT TO DANCE IN PANTS (out Mar. 15 from Sleeping Bear), was inspired by a facet of my own disability: sensory processing disorder and my life-long battle with clothes attacking me. I hope you preorder a copy from your local indie bookstore.

@michaelrosenyes.bsky.social the guinea pigs are very much invested in how your nightmare poem resolves!

Libraries are an investment. Not an expense

Looking for some quality EYFS and KS1 picture books featuring same sex parents / parent figures where this is obvious to the reader but not the focus of the text- bonus points for texts which link to mental health too. @jonnybid.bsky.social @teacherglitter.bsky.social @deputygrocott.bsky.social πŸ™ 😊

Anyone else find log stacking really satisfying? Nice brain break from work too πŸ‘Œ

My map of children's independent bookshops is updated regularly. Most provide an online service and they're all run by people who can make well-informed book recommendations. Make sure you support your local one if you want to keep it. Any missing, please let me know. padlet.com/Jon_Biddle/r...

I loved this as a kid. Seeing it transports me straight back to early 90s. I can feel the way it slotted into its case and hear the buttons clicking. I wonder how many of these are hiding in boxes in people's attics. I'm pretty sure I have this to thank for a half decent level of mental maths!

Homeschooling because your child could not access mainstream education? You have days left to have your say on how our education system needs to change. More details below. Reposts welcome - thank you. sendmatters.co.uk/2024/11/12/f...

What could be better for the soul than leaf throwing with a 3 year old? πŸ₯°

Beautiful Sunday morning at southwold - finding 3 starfish on our walk!!

Love this. Teach your boys to be dangerous men ❀️ www.instagram.com/reel/DB4Bm3K...

Absolutely, completely and utterly fantastic!! Saw this on tour and I was 100% engaged within seconds. Quickest and most enthusiastic standing ovation I've known too. Go see it!!

Just worked out that our 3 year old thinks eating meat is just something that happens at Halloween!! He's looking at everyone's plates when we are out and about asking in a truly disgusted voice "urgh, is that meat?". I love that his innocence highlights just how gross meat eating is. #vegan
