The best piece of equipment in Doom 2016 is the Siphon grenade. Pair it with a fully upgraded super shotgun and the heatblast mod on the plasma gun. That's pretty much all I used and it got me through nightmare.

New idea for weight loss: There's a grocery store about a mile and a half away from me that sells energy drinks cheaply. Basically each day I want my caffeine fix I have to walk the 1.5 miles there and the 1.5 back. Paired with audiobooks it would also up my reading too
