It’s on!!!

Agree! I use Claude for rudimentary tasks, as I need to keep abreast of the technology. But the principle behind the whole industry is dangerously flawed. (Or deliberately flawed.)

It's theft, pure and simple. Like many authors, I recently discovered my books are part of a pirated dataset being used to train artificial intelligence. Surely, Meta has enough money to pay for its data...? www.theguardian.com/technology/2...

Thanks to @v8sheppard.bsky.social @horrornonna.com @traceyspicer.bsky.social and everyone who got in touch for this story. www.theguardian.com/technology/2...

this is a good time to see if you can delete any kind of data you have at 23 and me or any other similar service

Two more AI hallucinations in Australian court judgements today

Proof of life! We all made it to the top of the Sealy Tarns in NZ on our UN Women Trek for Rights, and some even went further. Although it almost killed me, it's a metaphor for life: one foot in front of the other. These trekkers have shown extraordinary resilience, kindness and joie de vivre.

Wow! Check out this incredible Strava flyover of our UN Women trek in NZ yesterday. The 2200 steps of the Sealy Tarns! Tired now. 😂 www.strava.com/activities/1...

This is the first of a series of posts, celebrating our trek through New Zealand's Southern Alps to raise money for UN Women. The group has raised more than $50,000 for women and girls in conflict zones! If you'd like to donate, please hop onto this link: fundraise.unwomen.org.au/event/trek-f...

TFW dystopic sci-fi you write becomes prophetic

I wrote about this in Man-Made. It's an appalling breach of privacy. And there's little we can do about it. www.news.com.au/lifestyle/re...

A few thoughts on the media during this time of reflection around International Women's Day. I hope you enjoy my musings on how far we've come, and how far we have to go. Thank you for highlighting this ongoing issue, Samantha Scott. #IWD2025 #MarchForward

This is outrageous. www.theflowspace.com/interpersona...

Jesus Fucking Christ

Happy International Women's Day! Or is it? I've been despairing about the current backlash, but it’s heartening to see so many people pushing back. Today, we celebrate the women who've broken down barriers, and chart a path ahead. I hold a lot of hope for young people, leading the march forward!

Not only is this the second explosion in a row for Musk, but this launch wasn't even supposed to happen—as the investigation into the _last_ one isn't done yet. The only reason this launch went forward is Trump's FAA cleared it prematurely as a favor to Musk. Now FL travelers are paying the price.

Thinking of everyone in south-east Qld as Cyclone Alfred tears towards the coast. Chatting with Dad in Brisbane today brought back memories of the '74 flood associated with Cyclone Wanda. The road was metre-deep with water, mud, and dozens of floating cane toads: www.slq.qld.gov.au/blog/brisban...

Fellow word nerds: What is the most feminist font?

We talk a lot about the gender pay and superannuation gaps around International Women's Day. But we should also put a 'gender lens' on the once-in-a-generation reforms to Australia's aged care system. Check out my article below, as Ambassador for Your Side: www.thesenior.com.au/story/889785...

Just when you thought it couldn’t get any worse…

Grateful thanks to ABC psephologist Antony Green who is retiring from on-screen election night duties after 36 years. Antony’s data sets helped all electors and candidates understand exactly how Australia’s compulsory preferential voting system works = a functioning democracy.

We're looking for organisations to work with us to help test innovative prevention strategies to stop gendered tech-based abuse in the workplace before it begins Find out more about how you can be involved ➡️ ow.ly/ZQao50V7ooK

International Women's Day has special significance this year. On the 30th anniversary of the adoption of the Beijing Declaration, we're in the middle of an almighty backlash. I'd love to see you for the launch of the LeadHERship Network on March 10 in Sydney. doltonehouse.com.au/ticketed-eve...

Yes Marty Sheargold, the 14% of Australians diagnosed with endometriosis are faking their chronic disease. We simply lied about undergoing surgery and receiving a pathological biopsy of the tissue for a definitive diagnosis. How did you know?? 😱

Hello again! Here's another link, if you'd like to donate to support Jane Ewing on her UN Women Australia trek. I did a training walk with her yesterday! (Cape Baily south of Sydney, if you're a big walker.) fundraise.unwomen.org.au/fundraisers/...

Hello friends! Check out these beautiful paintings on the link below. As you can see, one of my fellow trekkers, Lynsey, is raffling them to raise money for UN Women Australia. Please consider buying some tickets, and share widely! rafflelink.com.au/trekforright...

Musk went straight to the slurs after being called out yet again for saying that astronauts have been stranded on the International Space Station by the Biden administration for “political reasons”—a lie that astronauts themselves have repeatedly debunked.

Good.

Timeline cleanse! The Grand Canyon Walking Track in the Blue Mountains is simply stunning. You can walk under several waterfalls, and see bright orange crayfish in the streams. It's all part of training for a five-day trek in New Zealand next month, to raise money for UN Women.

Trump & Elon's war on poor via USAID shutdown already devastating for women. Turned away from health clinics, denied life-saving medications, loss of reproductive services We've published this excellent explainer on (just some of) the massive consequences womensagenda.com.au/life/womens-...
