I'm already 30 mins in, and I knew most of this information. But then seeing the numbers and data behind it is making me question putting Bailey's in my coffee this morning.
And I live in Canada! I'm relatively unaffected, but we all know that won't happen. $USD MSRP goes up, so will $CAD MSRP.

People seem to think everything can be done like the flip of a switch, and it cannot.
Even if all of these companies stopped everything and started to rebuild local operations, the time to plan, setup, tool, test, QA, etc etc etc would still take longer than anyone has to wait before catastrophe.

And all stores ever heard was "Why can't you just bake more bread?" We are, we just don't have the roads to get it here directly, multiple shipments had to detour into the US, go through the customs procedures.
People without retail or logistics experience don't understand how products get to them.

When I had jumped back into the bread delivery world post-Covid, we had a highway washed out in BC. And the only bread that was baked locally within the area were the loaf breads and buns. Bagels, English Muffins, Tortillas, Rye and Specialty Breads all came from Interior BC, Alberta, or Manitoba.

The average idiot does not realize how much of unfathomable nightmare their lives will become because of the numerous links in a supply chain, but also SO MANY of those links were put offshore because the promise of exploiting people for profit of a nickel was too tempting for a greedy CEO.
