I knew that last bit! Very proud of my math Ed trivia score there!
The gears she would have gotten from us are a good bit less fancy than those in the blog post, which if she reads it she’ll likely be coveting!

I don't believe so, but there was a conversation of some kind that I was not involved in.

or hey, what about seeing the super cool gears project someone did via our remote internship program?
It has been a busy month on the @mathhappens.bsky.social blog!

Because you TOTALLY asked for this… and MapQuest has NOTHING better to do…
We’ve granted you exclusive access to a place very dear to our heart: gulfof.mapquest.com
Think of it as the Upside Down but more... minimalist. Pls share so we can behold your genius (or judge you, lovingly) 😘

right right. Patty paper and all that makes sense. (although there's still the ontological question about the shape you're putting the OTHER shape on to, and why the axes don't come along for the ride)
But "It's a linear algebra thing" helps my monkey brain understand the origins for curriculum.

Also, this isn't how ordinary space works. So I don't get why we don't build on that. If I pick up my coffee cup, everything else can stay put. What is the benefit of making this particular abstraction?

I know that people care deeply about "the plane" vs. "the figure" I don't fully understand it, though.
For example, if the whole plane moves, how can I ever put one figure on top of another? Aren't they both in the plane? Asking with honest intention to understand.

You should still stop by to say hi, though! Tour the turtle factory, perhaps? We could convene some MN friends for snax or whatever.

Any part of August 21—September 1 would be lovely dates to include if it's possible!

Oh yes! I had no idea! Warning: Do not be deluded into expectations of warm spring sunshine by the late April date!
BUT! If you want in on some excellent waterfall action, we can arrange a short road trip on Saturday if you stay over til Sunday. (see, e.g. background pic in my profile)

I might consider that a form of counting though! For me, any work you do to know how many there are is counting.
