Why are campsite reviews always like this

It's #March4th, post ants

I'm taking a look at the Rhynie Chert again, so I made a quick size chart of the plants I've already illustrated from it. These plants are some of the earliest land #plants, being from the Early #Devonian. From left to right: Asteroxylon, Horneophyton and Aglaophyton. #paleoart #paleobotany #sciart

Little Lichen World New painting of a small twig, possibly for an audience of me, but here it is anyway. I'm not sure if I want to not paint lichen again for a while, or paint everything else covered in lichen... lostthicket.etsy.com/listing/1882... #sciart #oilpainting #painting #art

probably should add the details but I kind of like this version #wip

Wardens of the Clouds Ornithocheirus/Pteranodon (Geosternbergia) #artbyjulio #SciArt #paleoart

Going to be illustrating some bones for a paper soon!!

is #WetBeastWednesday a thing here

I also have a video I took on my youtube account of Phreatoicopsis raffae walking! It moves so strangely youtu.be/-phTSxGoMu4?...

Timelapse (horrible crusty video with weird effects taken with take a screenshot) of my Phreatoicopsis raffae drawing. Most of the weird issues are at the start and then it looks more normal :| youtu.be/t2QTPWbjF7s?...

Timelapse (Krita recorder) video of my Anaspides drawing youtu.be/_iDeYW4ESns?...

So I've also done some more technical scientific illustration stuff, this is a Diprotodon cervical vertebrae compared to its closest extant relatives (koala and a wombat) I did for my final piece for a scientific illustration topic last year. #SciArt #ScientificIllustration #Diprotodon

Devonion fishies Elpistostege (close relative of the famous Tiktaalik) and couple of bothriolepis swimming by. Needs updating but still thinking this is one of my better paintings I have done

Hey! I’m Meghan, a lifelong artist; painter and drawer. The deep ocean has my heart and I adore painting unusual critters you don’t usually hear about ❤️ I’m contracted for writing and illustrating a deep ocean children’s book releasing in 2026. I also use deep ocean images in my personal work.

Okay I have finally updated my inprnt... get some creature prints here I guess www.inprnt.com/gallery/ostr...

Anaspides, an unusual #crustacean from the superorder #syncarida. These animals are really cool and are frequently found in alpine pools in Tasmania, though syncaridans are also found in streams in cave systems and groundwater elsewhere. #ArthropodArt

My progress on this drawing is absolutely glacial 💀

It's interesting having mostly just posted art on tumblr using other social media platforms, one of the nice things about tumblr for art is that there's much less of an expectation to post regularly and your old posts generally continue to get similar amounts of attention, in contrast to platforms

Always striking how much scientific illustration in papers is... not very accurate. And it's incredibly irritating when you're drawing off a photograph (with some blurry bits) and then using the diagram in the paper describing it to fill out the blurry sections and the diagram is simply not

From 2021, #paleoart of the giant temnospondyl Mastodonsaurus preying on the wee archosauriform Jaxtasuchus. Mastodonsaurus were huge - 5-6 m long - making them some of the largest amphibians of all time, and presumably lived crocodile-like lifestyles. #sciart #fossils #paleontology

Digital study of a white-throated monitor from a while back... monitors are some of my favorite reptiles to draw.

*hooded cultists chanting* Rake-legged mite! Rake-legged mite! Rake-legged mite! Oh and a tiny bristle millipede, all with sand grains for scale. Finally got to find bugs this week. 🤎

The Herefordshire Biota, a diverse assemblage of animals from the Silurian-age rocks of the UK. Among the largest animals is Thanahita, a strange relative of Hallucigenia with soft papillae lining its back.

This is officially my horizontally longest image to date, depicting some of the earliest complex animals on the planet from 565 to 505 million years ago and how they changed over time. Thank you to @egmitchell.bsky.social and Steve Pates for trusting me with this gargantuan task! #Art #SciArt

Fern practice (Hymenophyllum nephrophyllum)

Cyphophthalmi meeting...

Velvet worms joining isopods on list of animals that are really hard to get the lighting and focus to work well when photographing with my camera for some reason

I saw 4 velvet worms (extremely exciting!! Apart from these I have seen 2 ever in a lifetime of searching for them) walking up trees in the rain last night!! Here is one of them :)

My inat year in review

Saw an acoel today... no coelum.... #invertefest

I also draw rocks... this is Wilkawillina gorge in the Ikara Flinders Ranges, it has some really cool things like fossil Archaeocyaths and huge fossil stromatolites #geology #landscapesketch
