Oh! There's snippets too. Those are super impressive and the same command adjusts based on programming language:

Impressive, turns out not everybody has the same superpowers.

Yeah that makes sense. Speaking out letters all the time seems cumbersome because those words in my head don't have the same association as compared to hitting a key. Using the Cursorless hats felt a little clunky in the beginning but it's much more fluid now.

I don't recommend a treadmill, I've almost fallen over a few times because I wanted to stop and think and forgot it was there lol.

Come to the dark side! We have hands-free coding and row machines!

Makes sense. I never got to a point where body complications forced me to use a voice suite, I just thought it was really neat. I think my favorite use of the whole thing is that I find daily exercise on a row machine or stationary bike no longer feels like a huge waste of time 🤣

I really like it for (continued): - inserting another item into a list or function call (adds , if needed) “bring air after item sun” I still find navigating around my code editor to be a bit of a challenge, but the actual manipulation of code via voice for me is on par with writing by hand.

I really like it for: - rewrapping pairs eg () -> {} “curly repack air” - reformatting variables casing eg config_object -> configObject “format camel at air” - duplicating entire lines, blocks, functions with a single phrase “clone line air” “clone block air” “clone func air”

I think it's excellent. I'm more and more impressed with Cursorless every day that I use it. I'm still faster writing code by hand, but not by that much, and if I use Cursorless I can stand up easier and have less back pain.
comment in response to post
It might also be that I find Cursorless easier because I didn't lean deeply into using things like vim

Ah gotcha. I ended up settling on being hybrid keyboard and voice user while programming. There's some things that feel infinitely easier to do with voice than a keyboard for me, especially with tools like Cursorless. Do you still use voice anywhere in your workflow?

Yes!!!!!!

Wait there are stickers???

Ah instersting, so your experience with RSI doesn't really extend to your hands? Did you end up continuing to use Talon Voice once you got keyboard based mouse movement sorted out?
comment in response to post
How has that gone for you? I've never made the leap into eye trackers but I hear that they work really well.

Can't wait to check this out when it's ready :)

How did this go? Had to do it a couple of times so far and have also wacked moles

Apple has an iPhone mirroring application native to MacOS. I guess now I just need more monitor space 🤷‍️

I mean I wish, it's a little far for me though

I made this switch in 2022, and while there are still some things I like more about android, the security and device recovery policies of Apple work much better. AirTags helped me recover my laptop when I left it behind while traveling, highly recommended!

This is definitely the better outcome

This was the talk that going me started with using Talon! I appreciate Emily so much

Just gave a talk on this subject! 30m video: www.youtube.com/live/EvDJpN-... Happy to answer any questions

This has been my obsession lately, how is the hands-free journey going for you?
comment in response to post
Did you try it?? It's the best!
comment in response to post
How is this going for you? I've been leaning into Talon/Cursorless more of late and I finally feel like I've hit the point of being able to do my complete workflow by voice (even if my hacks are still faster)

Happy to chat here or hop in my calendar at www.trillium.is/pair

Hey Sam, sorry to hear about your arm pain. If you're already a Talon Voice user the jump to Cursorless shouldn't be that bad. I'm not as good as Andreas or Pokey using Cursorless, but I'm happy to hop on a call with and chat a bit about what's worked for me in ramping up voice coding.

For anyone catching this later on, here's the talk: Hands-free computer use with Talon Voice www.youtube.com/live/EvDJpN-... Thanks @virtualcoffee.io and @cfedev.bsky.social for hosting!

If you're more comfortable editing text in a code window, there's also Talon's draft editor (3 minute video): www.youtube.com/watch?v=U6Q9... This is what I'd use to do complex editing, but that's mostly because I'm familiar with Cursorless. Hope that helps!

github.com/wolfmanstout... Here's the file with the defined Talon commands, things like "go before", "replace {words} with {other words}" If the system detects multiple versions of you word it'll ask you which one to interact with.

You mentoined seeing what it looks like to edit text, while I don't have a demo of that at the moment, I would like to point you towards Gaze OCR (see 1 minute video): (This demo video is using Dragonfly rather than Talon but is compatible with Talon as well) www.youtube.com/watch?v=qkFy...

I tried this one time and don't understand the hype. Maybe my experience was a fluke?
