Safe meaning heavily armed. The Third Reich would rule the world right now if the Red Army had tried to take them down with peaceful protests.

And she married a billionaire in his 60s when she was 24.

No, keep that nonsense quarantined to Reddit. Americans (at least the ones from the region west of Lake Champlain and east of the Pacific Ocean) need to be bullied into not being totally oblivious to the most obvious sarcasm imaginable.

It's sad, because they really were the OG progressive news/commentary channel on YouTube, back in the 00s when 360p was as HD as it got. How did this happen? Did some right wing billionaire bribe/blackmail them? Did their own financial success poison their minds?

You know what's sad? I honestly can't tell if Molly Ploofkins is pro- or anti-Musk based on this.

Doing this in Boston is absolutely making a statement. They want us to think that we're completely powerless against them, and that they can act with total impunity in all 50 states.

I know you're already doing what you can to stand up against what Musk and Trump are doing, but the arrest of the Turkish grad student by non-uniformed ICE is extremely disturbing. We need to make them afraid to engage in gestapo tactics within our borders.

Fuck that, there should be no opt out. We are NEVER going back. To hell with every bootlicking liberal who thinks otherwise, you'll be against the fucking wall along with Musky and his "doge" catamites.

NO, not continuing it is not a fucking option. If they even think about that, we will make them pay. Simple as.

No, they better fucking keep paying it out from now until the end of time, or else. Yes I've been paying into it for a quarter of a century, but I'm not going to throw everyone born after me under the bus and expect them to "save for their own retirement" in a country where no one can afford to save

Can you imagine if Democrats had embraced the likes of Chapo and Hassan, rather than pretending that they're "Bernie Bros" and therefore worse versions of maga?

A regressive tax that will be hardest on the working poor, the elderly, and the disabled. It's a deliberate effort to shift the tax burden away from the most fortunate, and drop it onto the shoulders of the least fortunate.

Ah, so while cotton was grown in the Deep South, it was turned into yarn, blankets, clothing, etc in the mills of New England. White's Factory is a sort of pre-industrial cotton mill, while massive mill complexes later sprouted in cities like New Bedford, Lowell, Pawtucket, and Fall River.

That's far too noble a symbol to be placed with such an ignoble silhouette.

I'm surprised no one has tried to make a less-evil version of Facebook. It was a great site before it got invaded by racist grandparents in the 2010s. I still visit it for a few groups I still enjoy, but outside of them it's an absolute cesspool of hate and conspiracy theories.

There was actually quite a bit of that during the 2016 campaign season. All young progressives were excoriated as "Bernie bros" regardless of gender, and if you happened to be male you were invariably told that your distaste for Hillary was just because you hate women.

You were the ONLY congressman present for that farcical Nuremberg rally who made the people proud! Every single Democrat should have done what you did. So should all of these alleged "moderate", "fundamentally decent" "Never-Trump Republicans" that centrist Dems keep telling me exist.

And Donald Trump, on camera, lamented that Weinstein had been woefully mistreated by our justice system, or to use Dementia Don's exact words, he said Weinstein "got absolutely schlonged".

And his VP's wife is the daughter of two immigrants from what Trump calls a "shit-hole country", and of course President Musk was born and raised in Apartheid South Africa.

I'm honestly tired of well-meaning people trying to shame redhats for their hypocrisy. They don't care. In fact that they seem to delight the fact that it "triggers" normal people. Inflicting some negative emotion in others is all they seem to care about, and they'll happily settle for disgust/pity.

My severe ADHD makes relaxation next to impossible, as I can't sit still under normal circumstances. So now on my days off, I go to the gym at 05:00 and do 20 to 30 miles, half treadmill half elliptical, and that tires me out sufficiently to spend the rest of the day recumbent.

The Trump administration's goal seems to be to fuck up the country and world so severely that there is no chance of fixing everything in our lifetime. Forget ever seeing progress, we'll be struggling to get back to the good old days of 2024, forever.

That it is. Lately I'm often reminded of the bit in 1984 when Winston takes a train by himself out to the country for a discrete meetup with Julia. It's a beautiful sunny day, he's out in nature with no visible reminders of the Party, and he reflects that couldn't take that away from him.

I'm not even in the lowest tax bracket and it floors me that people on my income level vote for Trump. The very idea of qualifying for SNAP and voting for him seems like a criminal level of stupid. "Oh no, he's not going to end assistance to people like me who actually need it". Wtf.
