Earlier this month, Trump's DOJ dropped a lawsuit claiming that Idaho’s abortion ban violated a federal law mandating access to emergency medical care. Idaho’s largest health system is all that's left fighting it. @audreydutton.bsky.social w/ @statesnewsroom.com

If a majority of voters pass the amendment, Idaho voters would no longer have the power to legalize marijuana through a citizen’s ballot initiative. #idleg #idpol

Bringing back some of the classic hits from the Trump 1 presidency.

It’s a weird moment in American life, we’re being held hostage by an autocrat who is nakedly corrupt but also just not very smart

It's not often I'd recommend non-lawyers read a legal brief, but the opening para from this one by Perkins Coie - the firm targeted by the administration in a stand-alone EO for representing clients whose views the president opposes - is readily understood. A few clips below... /1

tesla car vehicles will have more legal protections than trans people

FOIA AND FIND OUT BABY

NEWS: Judge Amir Ali finds that the Trump administration is likely violating separation of powers in partially granting a preliminary injunction in the State Department/USAID foreign aid case. As with the TRO, he also finds the government is likely violating the APA with the non-payment issues.

Chris's rapid-fire reporting and nitty gritty analysis has been extremely helpful during this turbulent time -- so I just subscribed to @lawdorknews.bsky.social and you should too.

some helpful reminders: -not all jews support israel -criticizing israel is not the same as being antisemitic -being pro-palestine does not equal being pro-hamas -arresting someone for being pro-palestine is a violation of the first amendment -violating someone’s first amendment rights is bad

Weird seeing people talk about the "first they came for" poem in a way that shows they don't understand we're well into the "then they came for" lines at this point

we're in legit first they came for territory and a lot of people have been failing at this test they cite all the time

To be absolutely, 100% clear, THIS is something that ends in “then they came for me, and there was no one left to speak out”

how you respond to the illegal kidnapping of a lawful permanent resident is a pretty good litmus test for your politics and principles. do they extend to someone you view as in the out-group? do you actually believe in the whole "disagree with you but will defend your right to speak?"

🚨NEW: The Supreme Court will consider whether state laws that prohibit professional counselors from providing "conversation therapy" to LGBTQ minors—that is, attempt to "change" their sexual orientation or gender identity—violate the First Amendment. www.supremecourt.gov/orders/court...

Columbia grad student with a green card and a pregnant US citizen wife, abducted by ICE because of his political organizing, and now his lawyers can't find him. Hey, @schumer.senate.gov. This is your constituent. Bring him back home.

DOGE cuts to the Forest Service in Idaho are extensive, putting our 7 national forests at risk Their goal is to break the USFS, so billionaires can swoop in and buy the pieces Call Sens. Risch and Crapo, and tell them to KEEP PUBLIC LANDS IN PUBLIC HANDS! vimeo.com/1064039298?s...

"a skeptical Davlin" is the best thing anyone has ever written about me. arbiteronline.com/2025/03/06/g...

You can have the cops come beat the shit out of your students to prove you’re not a filthy commie and they’ll still do this to you and all you’ll have done is show everyone what a pathetic little coward you are. Might as well do the right thing the first time

In my latest “Bad DOGE” we’re looking at Boise VA Med Ctr firings. This is one of the nation’s best veteran hospitals that was understaffed before DOGE. Not only are they cutting essential staff but many of the fired workers are veterans themselves. All vets need to stand up and fight this.

Last year, Republicans silenced her. This year, many stood beside her and defeated four anti-trans bills. This is the power of standing up for your beliefs and for what's right, and good trouble. National Democrats, take notice. www.theguardian.com/us-news/2025...

"schools face challenges to accommodate the needs of English language learners. The bill would address those challenges, and provide the state statistics needed to inform public policy" Y'all absolutely NO ONE buys that you're doing this to help immigrant kids, pick a more believable lie #idpol

"Does the Constitution say that Trump is our all-powerful god-king?" and other very challenging legal questions for Sam Alito

My view is that political violence is bad and also some people SHOULD be getting popped in the mouth more often. These positions are not contradictory and I won't be elaborating further.

republicans: fyi we are bombing france for being too gay and lead poisoning is now mandatory democrats: yeah? well prepare yourselves for several strongly worded haikus

They're literally called humpbacks we can't possibly be surprised by this news

Enjoy your forests while you can, Idahoans! 🫠

"You can't policy your way out of a right-wing propaganda problem." Louder for the people in the back! At no point will any right-wing party be like "You know what, I think as a nation we are now cruel enough to immigrants and LGBTQ-people. Let's focus on something else for a change."

I’m starting a new series called “Bad DOGE” to expose the impact in Idaho of unconstitutional federal workers firings.

can't believe it's 2025 and i'm stressed about tariffs and measles, like am i a character in an american girl book

New from me: Alabama abortion rights supporters are in court today over threats from the state AG to prosecute them for helping people get legal abortions out of state. The case is a bellwether of whether red states can cut off access to abortion travel and pills www.theguardian.com/us-news/2025...

I am both: a) Horrified that 4 Supreme Court justices are fine with the president just deciding anything he wants about funding, which is obviously illegal/unconstitutional b) Pleasantly surprised because I thought there were at least 5 who are totally cool with authoritarianism rather than 4

Starting this week, we’ll all pay more at the store because of the Trump tariffs, even while he’s finalizing a multi-trillion-dollar tax cut for the wealthy. All the bluster is meant to get us talking about literally anything else.

This story is WOW: A New Missouri Bill Would Let Residents Donate to Anti-Abortion Centers Instead of Paying Any State Taxes @jeremykohler.bsky.social

BREAKING: By a 5-4 vote, the Supreme Court LIFTS its hold on a lower court order compelling the Trump administration to resume nearly $2 billion in foreign aid funding. The funds MUST be disbursed. Roberts and Barrett join the liberals. Obviously, this is huge. www.supremecourt.gov/opinions/24p...

The administration is doing what they told us they were going to do in an elaborately detailed manifesto published in ✨April 2023✨ Proud of St. Luke's for reading the writing on the wall (that is, again, a literally published manifesto) and being prepared to act.

Thank you, St. Luke's, for seeing this coming a mile away and not putting up with any of it 💙 #idpol

NEWS: DOJ announces that the Trump administration is reviewing "mifepristone-related" cases.

To absolutely no ones surprise, House Health and Welfare voted to send HB 345 to the floor with a do pass recommendation. Most of the testimony was in opposition. We now have two active Medicaid expansion repeal/reform bills in play. #idleg

Thrilled for them, congrats Jackie and Shadow 🥹

If House Bill 138 becomes law, Idaho failing to implement a single one of its 11 policy demands by July 2026 would trigger a repeal of Medicaid expansion in Idaho. #idleg #idpol #Medicaid

Wild because this is the one issue that nearly every Idahoan is actually pretty fuckin pissed about, on both sides. While I would love a blue governor, genuinely looking to the primaries to watch for any legit challenger 👀 #idpol

I’m quick to criticize Dems when they screw up so it’s only fair that I praise them when they do right. Blocking this awful transphobic bill was nonnegotiable and I’m very glad they did.
