Everything to do with Musk should be shut out of European markets. He wants to destroy us. It’s pretty easy to not let him. Close the door on him.

To the UK, Europe & the rest of the West: Cement your alliances. Make a joint plan. Do it NOW. The US has fallen.

If Brexit had never happened… …we’d be much wealthier, with more investment in public services, better trade - and with our parliament & govt having spent the last decade doing far more productive things. 🇬🇧🇪🇺🇬🇧🇪🇺🇬🇧🇪🇺🇬🇧🇪🇺

Victoria Coates is President Trump’s former deputy national security advisor, now at the US Heritage Foundation think tank. I asked her *how* President Trump wld go about getting 2m Palestinians out of Gaza

🙌 Well done everyone! 🙌 Read (and share!) this piece by Robert McMaster, who started the petition:

Deep alignment between the EU and U.K. could close this hole and deliver GDP growth for both sides. This is worth listening to. Tell him he was right then and to do the right thing now 🎧👇

As being “free to make our own trade deals” has delivered the square root of jack shit and, as Brexiters still can’t tell us what EU regulations they want to scrap, closer alignment with the EU should be a no-brainer. Great work @bestforbritain.bsky.social www.thetimes.com/uk/politics/...

Naomi Smith, "When we think about the world of tech, over the last two decades, their mantra of move fast and break things, was rewarded" "If you bring that approach into gov, politics, to the fabric of society, it won't work. And all it will seek to do is undermine the structures that protect us"

Watching powerless from Europe how democracy is crumbling in the US, reminds me of those movies where someone is mind-controlled by an alien or ghost. I want to yell: "America, we know you are still in there. If you can hear us, you must fight. YOU CAN DO IT. FIGHT THIS!"

I heard some Herbert from the Spectator praising Trump for restoring ‘freedom of speech’ the other day. In fact, I’ve heard several British right-wing blowhards say the same. Are they utterly, utterly stupid or morally bankrupt or both?

I just lost my job, along with most of my coworkers, due to the illegal grant freeze. I worked at an organization that -helped veterans who have lost a limb -Assisted elderly and disabled people -Helped hospitals better treat people who have lost limbs

A new approach to academic publishing: just pour right-wing money into your own vanity journal. “Peer reviewers” paid $500 per review but are not allowed to advise against publishing the article. Wonder who’s on the editorial board… www.importantcontext.news/p/a-new-acad...

"Farage would carve a wind-instrument from his own mother’s skull if it gave him a new way to blow his own trumpet" My bit for @bylinetimes.bsky.social on Brexit, the cancer currently celebrating 5 years of gnawing away at Britain's body politics. www.bylinesupplement.com/p/russell-jo...

it “looks very much like the coup- is now succeeding, thanks to the fawning, yawning complicity of the supine media, timid Democratic leaders- & the obliviousness of an electorate apparently unbothered by the slow-motion destruction of their own democracy. www.thedailybeast.com/yes-its-a-co...

A reminder that on this site folks may be aware that Trump got basically nothing new or substantive from Mexico or Canada but over on the other place, and out in parts of the real world, the GOP are successfully and ruthlessly spinning these as wins. They are messaging masters, Dems aren’t. Sorry 🤷🏽‍♂️

Starmer is to attend an EU summit and Brexiters are having a proper tantrum about it. As if they negotiated something good. As if our industries hadn’t been desperately lobbying govt ever since. As if the EU wasn’t an ally. Brexiters are monstrous toddlers - a total drag on diplomacy and progress.

You know what? The EU & UK should put tariffs on US goods (from red states) in solidarity with Canada and Mexico. Rather than watching others get bullied and waiting our turn - we should unify against this bullying until the bully drops that behaviour.

RONALD REAGAN (1988): We should be aware of the demagogues who are ready to declare a trade war against our friends, weakening our economy, our national security, and the entire free world—all while cynically waving the American flag.

Dear Leaders of the Free World, Fight him at every turn. Make his life miserable. Expose his ignorance and sociopathy. Oppose and condemn and marginalize him. The decent people of this nation are not with him. We stand with you. johnpavlovitz.substack.com/p/dear-world...

Allies saw 🇺🇸 as reliable, and observant of the rule of law. “Those arguments have been exposed as nonsense. In choosing Trump and in what he is actually doing, America has been exposed as a global force which has the strength of a giant but the intellect and empathy of a toddler” 💥 Gone 💥

Absolutely spot on from Rory Stewart

I don't know whether to laugh or cry, or scream... or all of the above.

Musk is unelected and hasn’t been confirmed by the Senate to any official position. His aides are not government employees. What the hell is going on here? Oligarchy is a big understatement at this point.

GBeebies visiting really Brexity areas to find anyone who thinks it was a good idea. It's not going well. "I really struggle to think of anything positive that's come out of it. A lot of people that I speak to said that if they had the choice again, would vote to stay." ~AA

Vicky Pryce just delivers economic fact: "We haven't really seen any benefits and we've seen loads of worrying trends... It's not a good time to be isolated and trying to make deals with [partners] who don't see us as particularly important." ~AA #Brexit

From Brexit failure to the impossible Brexit A large majority of Britons believe that Brexit has been a failure, according to all the polls, and yet the debate on returning to the European EU seems to have been buried, with neither of the two major parties daring to even raise the possibility.

They really, really need to pin this on Farage. When you think of the 'big beasts' of Brexit bollocks, there's not really anyone else left in the game so it should be quite easy.

“Be sound, bring a pound…” 😆 At Goodison on Saturday? If you can, drop £1 in one of the buckets around the ground to support the life-changing and life-saving work of Everton In The Community, as our official charity celebrates its 37th birthday. 💙

Lord Heseltine, "The creation of the EU Single Market was Margaret Thatcher's greatest achievements" "I am appalled by Brexit" "I don't believe for an instant that we should accept the verdict of a pack of lies, in order to persuade people to sever our relations with Europe"

The vile, sadistic crimes of this rape gang will not make national headlines, or trend on twitter for days. Govt will not have to account for failures to protect its victims. And all of us are less safe, because there is a concerted campaign for us to focus only on perpetrators with brown skin.

“Move closer to Europe – not Trump” Huge UK poll shows Brits overwhelmingly want Starmer to prioritise trade with EU not US. Even in Farage’s constituency! Excellent work by @bestforbritain.bsky.social & @pimlicat.bsky.social. 👏👏👏

Oakeshott, who recently emigrated to Dubai with her children, explaining how "integrating" there was "not really challenging" as it is "90pc expats", beams in to complain about too many immigrants in London. Could not make it up. ~AA

The UK government has banned the emergency use of neonicitinoid pesticides. There has been much bollocks in the press that the government MIGHT NOT do this. Well, they have. It is the correct action and should be celebrated. Governance is actions, not pantomime.

Let’s just stop buying American products. We did it with South Africa. I’ve got zero interest in propping up an authoritarian regime. We’ve got plenty of countries we can trade with.

He accidentally did a Nazi salute... TWICE. While talking about the future of Western civilization. He is who we think he is.

Now that we know giving a running commentary on the Southport murders could have jeopardised the trial and resulted in the killer walking free, I’m sure Nigel Farage will apologise for being a shit-stirring fuckwit. Any time now… Just you wait… ...

“Trump’s Return Must Be a Turning Point for the UK to Stop Pandering to America and Forge a Brighter Future With Europe. Trump is taking the US in a dark direction and we must not let ourselves be dragged along with him” argues @carladenyer.bsky.social👏 bylinetimes.com/2025/01/21/t...

Tiktok has been banned in the US on the grounds that China could use it "to manipulate and control Americans by spreading propaganda and misinformation." In other words, China *might* do exactly what Elon Musk *has done* with X. It's a blatant double standard.

This company likes to portray itself as akin to numerous small local brewers. It is, in fact, a giant corporation backed by a US private equity firm.

Those who follow me know I’ve been calling out lies & challenging misinformation for many years. But even at its worst I’ve never known it this bad. I know many are feeling hopeless right now. But that’s what they want - to wear you down & make you give up. Don’t let them. We can beat this, TOGETHER

I couldn’t give a damn about Badenoch’s speech today. They’re out of power. 4+years from an election. Incapable of working out where they went wrong. Unapologetic for the damage they’ve done. Pathologically dishonest and very unpleasant. Nothing she says will change that. Nothing she says matters.
